Compressed Design and Accelerated Master Schedule 9 th Grade Campus On July 11, the Board approved a compressed design and accelerated master schedule for the 9th Grade Campus. By doing so, the District will be able to meet important timelines necessary to qualify for up to $11.45 million in state matching funds: ORG funds from Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) if the Round 2 (July 31, 2008) deadline is met (up to $4M) OPSC funds through the New Construction School Facility Program grant funds from OPSC (Up to $4.5M) OPSC funds through the Land Acquisition Grant funds from OPSC ($2.95M) Total: up to $11.45M

Measure B Steering Committee Meeting August 8, 2007 Highlights Steering Committee members were grouped into teams All teams were given an orientation and overview of the process Excellent participation and attendance The design evolution was clearly articulated and fully understood Teams viewed multiple designs and were given the latest two sketch options to choose from And
Suggestions for the Chosen Design Lighting on the campus for night activities Lunch seating in inclement weather (need for a larger awning) Campus gating Possibility of more parking on E 14th Street Longer drop off area Consider making the locker and mat room two-story (extra storage space) Emergency vehicle entrance is there access with the walkway? More green areas for students grass if not grass, planters, etc. Noise barrier between courts and classrooms Aesthetic treatment of gym wall that faces E 14th Street Clearstory windows in gym Windows in stairwells

Issues Surfaced during the August 22 nd Meeting: Entrances and Exits Requirements from the Fire Marshall Physical Education Technology Library Space As a result, architects met with: Physical Education staff Library staff Fire Marshall And went back to the drawing board!
The inclusive process, the multiple perspectives, and the dedication of staff and community has led to a design fully supported by the Measure B Steering Committee.
