At the same time, one should also look at our own lack of civic sense and irresponsible behavior, before criticizing the authorities! Here is one glaring instance. We complain of the poor condition of the roads but we are not prepared to put up with the difficulty for even a few hours as they are being laid. The surface of Pinjala Subramanian Street was recently concreted. If one observes the road near the entrances to houses, in a number of places deep tyre marks are visible which were obviously made by the vehicles belonging to the residents while the surface was still wet! Does it not show our own disregard for public property? In my street, residents living in flats compete with the slum dwellers in throwing garbage around dust bins! Who is going to educate them? Nagar Keeps count of your LPG refills to avoid getting cheated Sir, We received a complaint from one of our residents about the inordinate delay in the supply of LPG refills by the Indane TUCS located on Kuppaiah Chetty Street, West Mambalam. When our association member met the concerned official at IOC, he immediately called the concerned agency and was told that the delay was on account that the refill was processed under the non-subsidized category. When we said this was incorrect, the official checked the refill details of the consumer online from April 2013 to date and found that a total of 9 refills had been supplied under the subsidized category. In reality, the complainant had ordered only 3 refills during the said period and we produced the receipts to prove the same. It was clear from the above facts that the agency had followed the consumer s usage pattern and had illegally sold the subsidized refills meant for her to someone else. We then lodged a written complaint with IOC. When we next met the officials of TUCS in its head office, he immediately realized the gravity of the situation and arranged for immediate delivery of the refill at subsidized rate and also assured that all future deliveries too would be made at subsidized rate. I am writing this letter to enlighten consumers and advice them to keep a count of their refills and also preserve the receipt so as to put at naught any foul play by the agencies. I also appeal to the oil companies to keep a tab on the agencies to ensure that the dealings with the consumers are just and fair.
