Manatee Cmmunity Cllege - PDC : Led intensive 2-day design-build charrette fr a $4.7 millin fixed-fee fast-track prject and 10-mnth pening timeframe. The team s 7 day effrt develped the presentatin, budget, and cntract t win the prject award and unanticipated acceptance as the Design Develpment submittal. Despite unexpected demucking and active hurricane seasn, a well integrated, tightly crdinated team finished n schedule and budget. Oakmnt View V: Designed tw alternative prjects fr a 638-unit, 238-acre muntainside site with 2300 change in elevatin: A Subdivisin, allwed by-right, and PRD, requiring extensive time, cst and zning variances. This was an extensive explratin f sustainable and envirnmental design principles in 1991. Highlights: Cntrasting designs illustrated envirnmental, cst and cmmunity benefits f the PRD and wisdm f adpting new prgressive land use instruments. Reduced cut / fill by 35% r 2.1 millin cubic yards (equivalent t 2 ftball fields x 1760 tall ) Minimized vertical scarring ; maximized undisturbed habitat and cnnected envirnments. Engaged disparate grups; Owners, zning members, cntractrs, cnsultants, and envirnmentalists in a think-tank cnversatin t supprt a paradigm shift in muntainside develpment strategies.
