Its Royal Monastery has been considered the eighth wonder of the world since the XVI century. One of the province s largest water reservoirs, where sailing is practiced, is located in El Escorial. There also are several points of interest such as the renowned La Herrería golf club, a riding club, theatres, restaurants, coffee shops, museums, public and private schools, four bilingual schools, hospitals, health care centres and several universities.

The project was designed by NO.MAD architectural firm, leaded by Eduardo Arroyo. Its building took from 2002 to 2006, with the collaboration of the architects Francesco Monaco, Javier Tamer and Cristina Fidalgo. The house layout preserves all the pre existing trees in the plot, adapting to the urban requirements and the topographical features. A non-cartesian geometry where the land s irregularities give birth to the house s split-levels is created. Its spatial and lighting exclusive design makes it a unique house. Its stone and glass walls evolve and are transformed to accommodate the house among the trees in search of shade and functionality for each of its areas. Once inside, its resin floors, walls and ceilings incorporate wooden plates that let in the abstract presence of the woods blending the house with its outdoors.
