Jack Cochran received Master of Architecture and Master of Urban and Environmental Planning degrees from the University of Virginia School of Architecture in December 2012. The recipient of the Sullivan Award and the Partridge Endowed Award in Architecture, his work has focused on sustainable urban metabolisms, culminating in a thesis that reimagined food production and waste management at the scale of a city block. He is co-founder of Urbain DRC, a design/research collaborative focused on the future of the city and the environment. Urbain was awarded First Prize in the inaugural Minneapolis Creative City Challenge for MIMMI, an installation that detects and displays the collective mood of the city and merges the physical and virtual layers of an urban space. Urbain is also at work on a new prototype for mixed-use buildings, to be constructed in midtown Minneapolis beginning 2014. Jack is also co-founder and owner of the Charlottesville Community-Supported Fishery, a business that connects residents with local, responsibly-harvested fish and supports smallscale farms in southern Virginia. He has also served as lead editor for the School of Architecture s student journal, Lunch, for which he led production of two main volumes and initiated an additional bimonthly publication. He currently works for INVIVIA, a design and technology research lab based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Jack has worked for the Galfione-Cox Design Studio in Charlottesville, as well as Biko Associates in Minneapolis, where he conducted research and wrote chapters for the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Central Corridor Light Rail Line. He was born in Minneapolis and received a B.S. in Architecture and a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Minnesota, graduating magna cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Activities included digital modelmaking, renderings, preparing materials for planning commission submissions, and assisting in meetings with local communities. Former project received Charlottesville 2012 Outstanding Plan of Development award. 2008- Biko Associates Minneapolis 2009 Research and Urban Design Intern Conducted field research and wrote chapters on land use and community impacts for the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Central Corridor light rail line in St. Paul. Researched and developed strategies for new bike paths/lanes in Minneapolis, and presented materials and options to local communities.
