IN NSW, THERE IS A RANGE OF HOUSING ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE YOUR TENANTS CAN FIND OUT MORE AT THIS LINK Online: www.housingpathways.nsw.gov.au or they can make an application for Social Housing over the phone 1800 422 322 Tenancy Assistance (Private Tenancy Rental Arrears) A person can apply for Tenancy Assistance if their private rental tenancy is threatened due to rent arrears. To be eligible: Must be eligible for Social Housing Must have less than $1000 in the bank Able to sustain a tenancy The property is affordable How to apply: Apply for Housing Assistance online or over the phone Applicants will be asked for: o Identification o Bank Statements o Pay Slips/ Income Statement

o Copy of the Tenancy Agreement o A letter from the Real Estate Agent/ Landlord outlining address, weekly rent and amount of current arrears. o Details of the arrangement to repay arrears with Real Estate/ Landlord o Evidence of unforeseen expenses that led to the arrears Make an appointment for an interview/ assessment at your closest FACS Housing Services office. PRIVATE RENTAL SUBSIDY Private Rental Subsidy is a subsidy that allows people access to affordable accommodation in the private rental market. There are 2 subsidy types: Private Rental Subsidy medical/disability(prs) Private Rental Subsidy- Start Safely (SS) To be eligible for PRS (Medical/Disability): Must meet social housing eligibility criteria Be Priority Housing approved Have a disability Be at risk in your current accommodation To apply: Complete Application for Housing Assistance by phone or online

Include: ID, Bank statement, income details, support letters, medical assessment, any other supporting documents To be eligible for Start Safely: Must meet social housing eligibility criteria Be escaping domestic or family violence Be homeless or at risk of homelessness Be able to afford and sustain the tenancy when the subsidy stops Be willing to receive support services where relevant To Apply: Complete Application for Housing Assistance by phone or online Include: ID, Bank statement, income details, support letters, medical assessment, any other supporting documents indicating a DV situation RENTSTART BOND LOAN Rentstart Bond Loan is a loan of up to 75% of a rental bond. The loan is interest free and repayable back to FACS Housing Services. Any repayments made are returned to the client if there is no claim made by the landlord or real estate agent at the end of the tenancy.

To be eligible: Must be eligible for Social Housing Must have less than $3000 in the bank Be Able to sustain a tenancy The property is affordable To Apply: Apply for Rentstart Bond Loan online or over the phone Include: ID, Bank statement, income details, support letters, any other supporting documents Advance Rent In some circumstances two weeks advance rent may also be paid to assist someone at the start of their private rental tenancy. Additional support information will be required to advocate for this additional assistance. RENTSTART MOVE Rentstart move is financial assistance (Bond Loan) for people who are leaving social housing because: They are ineligible for a further social housing lease and are required to vacate the property. They want to leave voluntarily Rentstart Move assistance can be provided prior to leaving social housing so that there is no risk of homelessness. What help can I get:

Up to 75% of the rental bond No advance rent applicable Am I Eligible? Housing NSW accounts have a nil balance or are credit (Rent, Water, Repairs) Social Housing Eligible Have less than $5000 in cash assets The private rental is affordable (50% or less of household income) To Apply: Apply for Rentstart Bond Loan online or over the phone Include: ID, Bank statement, income details, support letters, any other supporting documents TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION Temporary Accommodation is a short term, time limited assistance for people who are homeless and can demonstrate that they have nowhere else to stay. It is important that: The client continues to look for alternative short or long term accommodation while receiving temporary accommodation support. The client stays engaged with their Specialist Homelessness Support Service provider FACS Housing Services and the SHS work together to support the client and resolve their housing need.

The client must have less than $1000 in the bank How to apply: Call Link2Home 1800 152 152 for initial assessment and first nights temporary accommodation if eligible. Attend or call a local FACS Housing Services office Complete an Application for Housing online or over the phone Include: o Identification o Income Statement/ Pay slips o Bank statements o Citizenship status Application for Social Housing can now be done via Phone: 1800 422 322 or Online: www.housingpathways.nsw.gov.au
