Saint Gabriel Catholic School in Canaryville celebrated Read Across America a few days early with a special Cuddle Up and Read day on Friday, February 25th. In addition to wearing their pajamas to school, the students spent the day involved in a variety of reading activities. The students brought books from home for the book swap, they read stories with their buddies and guest readers visited the classrooms. The students also were given a new book to take home. Read Across America is celebrated throughout the United States on March 2nd each year, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Dr. Seuss effectively uses rhyme to teach children about life. The students at Saint Gabriel School had the opportunity to learn how an author s use of rhyme can be an effective tool for helping them to learn in a fun and playful manner.
