Preface Jammu chapter of INTACH has been a somewhat late entrant in the fraternity of chapters. However it is highly satisfying to find that within a short span of its existence, the chapter has been able to generate events and activity in accordance with the larger mandate of INTACH. The chapter was set up in its present avatar with Mr. S M Sahni as its Convener, and Professor Anita Billouria as Co-Convener in March 2007. Mr Sahni has been associated with cultural projects managed by the State Government and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Trust for a long time. He has also served the State Tourism Department in various capacities and remained one of the prominent Directors of Tourism in Jammu. His vast experience has helped the chapter in leveraging the programs with good visibility. The chapter has successfully networked with Universities, colleges and schools and coordinated some important seminars. Dr. Billouria, a well known academician and Professor of history in Jammu University has made immense contribution in identifying and documenting the tangible and intangible heritage of Jammu. A photo description of some of the activities is the theme of the current news letter. INTACH, J&K Chapter Srinagar April, 2017 2
