During my fellowship I worked with graduate students to develop articles and conference presentations. I presented my research on Miami and carried out research for two articles one on tourism and race in Miami Beach Florida and the other on urban governance and metropolitan planning in Dade County, FL. 2 of 6

Transit Oriented Development Graduate Student Researcher, University of California Transportation Center, Spring - Fall 2007 I carried out schematic designs for transit-oriented developments projects in the Central Valley cities of Stockton and Merced. This work was part of studies carried out to determine the best alternative for the High Speed Rail line in California s Central Valley. The plans were presented to public officials, academics, and the general public. Historic Preservation and Architecture Research Associate, Miami Beach Community Development Corporation, 1999-2002 - Miami Modern Architecture Exhibit 1945-1972: I provided curatorial work and research for a photographic exhibit featuring mid-century architecture in Miami Beach, FL. - Highland Park Historic Preservation Report: I conducted a survey of more than 50 existing structures in Miami s Highland Park neighborhood to prepare a historic preservation report. - Miami Architecture Guide: I conducted research of over 300 prominent architectural structures across the Dade County Area for the first architecture guide in the city. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Community Development Community Assessment Manager Ignatian Center, Santa Clara University, Spring 2014 This position consisted of supporting Santa Clara University s Ignatian Center in the development of community partnerships in the Washington-Guadalupe neighborhood, an immigrant neighborhood near downtown San Jose. My work consisted of adapting charrette techniques to enable communication between stakeholders, experts and academics. I adapted participatory design techniques, produced data visualizations, and developed design-thinking exercises to facilitate the interaction between residents and SCU Faculty, staff and students. Architecture and Urban Design Architectural & Urban Designer Torti Gallas and Partners, Washington, DC, June 2003 July 2006 City Vista Mixed-use Development This project consisted of the design of an award winning mixed-use building in downtown Washington DC. The new development included a combination of retail space, condominium and apartment units 20% of which were set aside as affordable housing. Duties included: zoning and program analysis, construction documents, code research, mechanical & electrical coordination, value engineering and coordination with construction documents. Fort Irwin Town Center Part of the Fort Irwin Military Housing Revitalization in California, this project consisted of the design of a town center with retail and civic amenities for military enlisted personnel. Duties included: site plan analysis, sustainable construction material research, code research, schematic design, design development, value engineering and coordination with construction documents. Salishan Unit Type Design This project consisted of the design for multiple unit types in a Hope VI development located in Tacoma, Washington. Duties included: site analysis and planning, unit program analysis, individual 4 of 6

unit design, design development and construction documents, grading analysis, policy research, ADA code research, and the development of presentation materials. Belmont Heights Community Center This project consisted of the design for a community center in a proposed Hope VI master plan located in Tampa, Florida. Duties included: program analysis, site planning, renderings, schematic design and design development. Harbor View Hillside Master Plan This project consisted of the design for the master plan for a Hope VI project in Duluth, Minnesota. Duties included: site analysis, charrette preparation and execution, programmatic analysis, housing policy analysis, site planning & grading, and master plan coordination of unit types. A. Harry Moore Neighborhood This project consisted of the programmatic analysis for a potential Hope VI development in New Jersey. Duties included: massing studies, schematic design of unit types, site documentation and site plan analysis. Architectural Designer Miami Intermodal Consortium, Miami, FL, December 2002 June 2003. Miami International Airport Intermodal Center This projection consisted of assisting a team of engineers in the design development and construction documents for the Miami International Airport s Intermodal Center. Duties included: precedent studies, sectional studies, Florida Department of Transportation policy analysis, coordination of construction documents with civil engineers, and development of presentation materials. Architectural Designer Allan T. Shulman Architect, Miami, FL, March 1999 December 2002 L Allemand Residence This project consisted of the design of a new high-end mansion in Miami Beach, Florida. Duties included: schematic design, design development, phasing analysis, construction documents, mechanical and electrical coordination, permitting, and project management. Valdez Residence Addition This project consisted of the design of an addition to a historic residence in Miami Beach, Florida. Duties included: historic preservation research, schematic design, design development, construction documents, project management, client relations, code research, presentations in front of the Miami Beach design review board and permitting. This exhibition was based on a collaboration between Swissnex San Francisco and UC Berkeley s College of Environmental Design. It showcased the work of the Nanocity studio. Spring semester and summer long planning studio at UC Berkeley s DCRP. The Living Traditions of Coconut Grove Exhibition Miami, FL, 2002 This exhibition featured work carried out with high-school students from the Coconut Grove neighborhood in the City of Miami. The work featured urban portraits that the students developed by using digital tools to create collages mixing architectural design elements with personal narratives. The Other Modern Bologna, Italy 2000 This travelling exhibition featured two wood crafted architectural models, one of New York s Flat Iron Building, and the second of Cita Universita in Rome, Italy. Dessau: Between History and Future Dessau, Germany 1999 This exhibition featured the design of a poster showcasing the industrial landscape of Dessau, Germany.
