Technical Seminar on Effective Design and Construction to Structural Eurocodes A Technical Seminar on Effective Design and Construction to Structural Eurocodes: EN 1990 & 1991, EN 1992, EN 1993 and EN 1994 jointly organized by the Hong Kong Constructional Metal Structures Association (HKCMSA) and The Chinese National Engineering Research Centre for Steel Construction (Hong Kong Branch), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (CNERC) was successfully held on 24th June 2016 with a total of 78 registrants attended. The Technical Seminar is a part of the Professional Development Programme of the HKCMSA and the CNERC. The event is also supported by Construction Industry Council, The Institution of Civil Engineers Hong Kong Association, and Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). With joint efforts of all the organizing and supporting units, the following speakers (in order of appearance) were invited to deliver one or more sessions in the Technical Seminar, aiming to promote effective design and construction to Structural Eurocodes with special emphasis on practical application: Ir Dr. Michael C. H.Yam Associate Professor at the Department of Building and Real Estate, PolyU, Deputy Director and Secretary General of the CNERC, and Vice President of the HKCMSA; Dr.Tak-Ming Chan Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, PolyU, and Deputy Secretary General of the CNERC; Ir Dr. Simon Wong Associate Professor and Programme Leader of Civil Engineering at the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong; Dr. Paul H. F. Lam Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong, and Chairman of Education and Training Committee of the HKCMSA; and Ir Prof. Kwok-fai Chung Professor and Associate Head at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, PolyU, Director of the CNERC and President of the HKCMSA. A full house of 78 delegates had attended the Technical Seminar. The Programme aims to introduce Structural Eurocodes to practicing civil and structural engineers in Hong Kong through coordinated presentations on structural behaviour, design development, and codified rules in order to enhance their technical capabilities. Practical application and up-to-date industry knowledge were delivered to practising civil and structural engineers in Hong Kong.
