The 11th Ward recently sponsored the annual Spelling Bee for 5th grade students at Armour Park, located at 3309 S. Shields. Each participant was given a list of 100 words, twenty-five of those words were chosen as the contest words. An additional 10 unfamiliar words were given in case of a tie. Santa Lucia School News The Lightning Places First and Second The Santa Lucia basketball teams played Bridgeport Catholic Academy on Saturday, March 6th on the last day of the 2010 season. The 1st & 2nd grade team placed second and the 3rd & 4th grade team placed first. The younger team showed great defensive skills and amazing teamwork. Each player used the tools that they learned during practice out on the court, said Ms. Rodriguez, the 2nd grade teacher and Assistant coach.
