Minutes, financial records, rules, membership records, Club Room and Library records, Log Books, publications, the Register of Munroists and related papers of the Scottish Mountaineering Club from its formation in 1889 to 1994. Significant runs of correspondence, diaries, notebooks, and photographs of and relating to members of the SMC and other climbers, 1799-1996, presented to the Club have also been deposited. Notable climbers represented here include J. Logan Aikman, Sir Hugh Munro, and Rev A.E. Robertson. The minute book of the Junior Mountaineering Club of Scotland, Glasgow Section, 1925-1936, together with a letter and menu cards for dinners of the JMCS, 1930-1948, have also been deposited. Much of the material listed here was deposited in the Library in 1971 and 1972 as Dep.179 and Dep.198; additional material was deposited in 1995, 1996, 2001-2003, 2005-2007, 2012 and 2016. He died in 1972 leaving his collection of maps of the Highlands and his mountaineering tackle to the SMC. Rev Burn's diaries may now be in Aberdeen University Library. 91.
