We are very excited to see how the rapidly expanding nature of our surrounding our community has resulted in a variety of housing solutions. We have created this document to act as your guide through the initial home application, selection and pre-tour process. Within its pages is the Home Application, Important Deadlines and Dates, Architect Requirements, and tour rules. Eligibility and Authorship: It is the intention of the Home Tour Committee and the Executive Board of AIA Fort Worth that the Homes Tour showcases the architectural designs of registered architects, who are members of AIA Fort Worth and who demonstrate the value of using an architect for residential design. Exceptions to this are at the discretion of the Committee and Executive Board for the special categories the test-of-time and architects personal residence. Residential projects eligible for consideration include but not limited to single-family, condo, townhomes, remodels. It is acceptable to submit a project that is under construction. Projects should be substantially complete by October 1, 2018. Preference will be given to houses that are furnished and occupied. Architects who are not members of the AIA Fort Worth at the time of submission must be members by November 1 2018. 2. Multiple Submissions: Any one firm or architect may submit multiple homes for consideration. However, only one home per firm or architect will be on the tour per year. 3. Fees: There is not an application fee. Participants whose projects are selected are required at the first architect s meeting to submit the Architect s Participation Fee of $275. Payments can be made via https://architectfee.eventbrite.com or checks made out to the AIA Fort Worth. 4. Project Visits: Each project must be viewed on either October 5 th or 6 th, 2018. The architect will be responsible for coordinating with the home owner for the scheduled time. See Submission Requirements for signup link. 5. Final Selections: Applicants will be emailed of selection status. If your project is selected, a firm principal/designated representative is required to be at all scheduled Mandatory Meetings and will be designated as the firm s contact for additional tour information & coordination by the Committee. Refer to the Dates to Remember on page2 for dates. 6. HOAs and Gated Communities: If the project is in a gated or controlled community, such as a neighborhood association, the association must also give written authorization for the Tour. This authorization is to be turned in at the First Mandatory Meeting. See the last page of this document for required form. If access to home requires a shuttle service, the cost of the shuttle service will be the responsibility of the architect. 7. Media: All homes must be available for photography. All areas inside and out, included in the project must be clean and ready for photographs. Architects and Owners available for initial interviews prior to the tour sometime between October and February. Additional interviews may be scheduled for media coverage closer to the actual event. AIA will be promoting your firm using your firm name and links to your website. The AIA will ask that you promote the tour via your digital media accounts and by sharing and liking our digital media posts. Please wait in announcing your home is or is not included on the tour until AIA has announced your homes. See next page for dates. 8. Sponsorships: The Architect is responsible for assisting the AIA in securing a minimum of $4,000 in new sponsorships. No materials or representation may be displayed in the home without paid sponsorship. This includes the builders, subcontractors, installers, interior designers, the owner s place of business or affiliation or realtors. Selected homes may not display For Sale signs on the Tour weekend, unless the sale listing is by a paid Gold Sponsor. Homeowners who wish to advertise goods or services must also participate as sponsors. 9. Education: The Home Tour Committee is committed to creating a tour that celebrates the process of design and educates the community on the benefits of working with an architect. We will be having new features this year which may include publication of or creation of boards for the houses that demonstrate the process of residential design. We will ask for your input and assistance at least 120 days in advance for this. 10. Tour Days Responsibilities: The architect must have a firm representative in the home at all times. You must provide a minimum of 4 docents at house at all times during the tour. Docents must attend one of the volunteer training sessions and if they are a consultant or product provider for the home they must be at least a Home Elite sponsor. 11. A House For Exhibit Material Participation in the A House For Exhibit is strongly encouraged. One piece of some original work from your firm related to your selected house submitted for auction. 12. Disqualification: Homes Tour Committee reserves the right to disqualify any selected Architect and home if the above rules are not adhered to at any time. The Committee s recommendations will be presented to the AIA Fort Worth Executive Committee for final approval. See section entitled: Dates to Remember for specific dates. SELECTION CRITERIA The Homes Tour will strive to showcase the variety of residential work in and around the Fort Worth Region, and the importance of working with an Architect to achieve a high level of quality of life that good design can provide. Selection Criteria will include: o Design Excellence o Quality of Craftmanship o Innovative Design Solutions and Use of Materials o Sustainable Design is not a requirement, but is considered a plus o Collaboration between Architect and Owner o Logical feasibility for the tour, including, but not limited to: Access to the project Circulation route (how the public will navigate through the project) Location in relation to other homes on the tour APPLICATION The application is on the next page.
