Profiles: Avril Belfon Ms. Avril Belfon has been the Government Archivist at the National Archives of Trinidad and Tobago since 2010. She started her career in Libraries having completed her Masters in Library and Information Studies at the University of Toronto. She then worked as a Librarian at the Information Networks Division of the National Library, the Heritage Library and finally the Parliament Library before moving to the National Archives of Trinidad and Tobago. She has taught Information Literacy at one of the local colleges and developed a course for the Introduction to Electronic Records Management which forms part of the Certificate in Records Management Programme there. Ms. Belfon has present-ed at professional conferences and has a keen interest in Reference, Outreach and Advocacy. She is currently the vice president of CARBICA Margaret Crockett Margaret Crockett is a qualified consultant in archives and records management with thirty years of professional experience in large and small businesses, NGOs and public sector organisations in the UK and overseas. She holds a BA (Hons) in History from the University of Swansea; a Postgraduate Diploma in Archives Studies, University College London as well as a Diploma in Modern German Studies from Birbeck College, London. Margaret is currently the Deputy Secretary of the International Council on Archives. Stanley H. Griffin, Ph.D. Dr. Stanley H. Griffin was born in Barbados. He holds a BA (Hons.) in History, UWI, an MSc in Archives and Records Management (Int l), University of Dundee, Scotland, and a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies (with High Commendation), UWI. He is the Assistant Archivist/Officer-in-Charge at the University of the West Indies (Mona) Jamaica. At UWI (Mona) he is also an Adjunct Lecturer in Archival Studies and Coordinator for the new Graduate Programme in Archives and Records Management. Stanley serves on the Executive Committee of the Caribbean Branch of the International Council on Archives (CARBICA), the Jamaica Historical Society, and the Jamaica National Committee for the UNESCO Memory of the World. Didacus Jules, Ph.D. Dr, Didicus Jules, a former Permanent Secretary for Education at Grenada, holds a BA (Hons) and an MBA from the University of the West Indies (Barbados); an MSc and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Education. He has worked internationally with multilateral agencies such as CIDA, the World Bank, SIDA and with the African National Congress education programme. He has had a long and distinguished career in education and is currently the Director General of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States. 4

Emilie Leumas, PhD, CA, CRM Dr. Emilie Leumas is a Certified Records Manager and Archivist and is currently the Director of Archives and Records at the Archdiocese of New Orleans. She has extensive experience in disaster recovery having led the recovery effort at the Archdiocese following the destruction of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005. She received the Society of American Archivist Spotlight Award in 2006 for this work. She is currently the Chair of the ICA Expert Group on Emergency Management & Disaster Preparedness. Jonathan Rhys-Lewis Jonathan Rhys-Lewis is a self-employed preservation and collections management consultant with over 30 years experience. He is a professionally qualified archive conservator; an accredited member of the Institute of Conservation and is listed on the Conservation Register. He has held office on a variety of professional committees and is currently chair of the International Council on Archives Expert Group on Archive Buildings & Environments. His international work has included successful consultancy missions in France, the Netherlands, The Gambia, Uganda, Kenya, Sierrra Leone, Macau and Vietnam. Maximillian Scriwanek Maximiliaan Scriwanek entered the Archives world investigating archives as a Historian. He studied at the Archiefschool (Archives school) in Holland. From 1996 he worked as Policy Advisor at the National Archives of the Netherlands Antilles (from 2010: Curacao). He designed the new Archives law which was enacted in 2008 and worked on a project to realize a new depository (completed in 2011). He served as Director of the Service Center of the National Archives for 10 years and in 2014 was appointed Director of the National Archives of Curacao. He is currently involved in the foundation of an archives school on Curacao and a project to transfer Government archives up to 2010 to the National Archives. He founded the National Committee of the Blue Shield on Curacao with the aim of safeguarding cultural heritage in case of natural disasters and is President of that foundation. Rita Tjien Fooh Rita Tjien Fooh is currently the director/national archivist of the National Archives of Suriname (2010- present). She is also a part-time lecturer at the History Department of the Anton de Kom University of Suriname. In 2005 she obtained her Master s degree in Archival Studies from the Archiefschool/University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and in 2008 her Master s degree in Public Administration from the FHR Lim A Po Institute for Social Studies/ Erasmus University of Rotterdam. In 2015, she was elected President of the Caribbean Archives Association and recently (Sept.2016) she was elected the coordinator of the ICA Branches (International Council on Achives). In this capacity, she represents the ICA Branches at the Programme Commission of the ICA. She is also (2016-2017) the President of the Regional Committee of UNESCO Memory of the World Program for the Latin American and Caribbean Region (MOWLAC). 5
