We are hopeful we will quickly reach the bottom of this financial downturn so that we can restore consumer confidence and think in terms of rebuilding a stronger foundation to move forward into 2009. Perhaps the most valuable benefit of participating in our CCIM Central Canada Chapter is the knowledge and education to support decision making in the real estate market which now changes on a daily basis. For our Chapter, Fall was very busy. In September we had an informative seminar on Land Development and the business of adding value to land, organized by Counsel Corporation's, Raymond Nicolini with Brad Rogers and Nathan Jamieson of Stantec Consulting Ltd. Are you ready for a massive re-assessment for 2009 taxation? Rae Buchan AACI provided us with a vivid outlook on everything you need to know in regards to property tax. One of Mr. Buchan's largest tax savings was $30,000,000. On November 4th we featured a full-day seminar with Phil Nesrallah CCIM, a senior instructor and Ottawa resident who has facilitated CCIM courses world wide. The session included a Primer to Financial Analysis, a mini version of the CCIM commercial real estate investment fundamentals and a review on the Discounted Cash Flows and Net Present Value. Our 2008 year will be completed on December 2nd at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre with an all day event. The morning session will include our Annual General Meeting, followed by our newly created Virtual Bus Tour, where for the first time ever our Chapter will be showcasing our community's growth as reflected in specific I.C.I. Projects. Finally, Richard Juge CCIM, SIOR, the 2010 CCIM Institute Incoming President, will have sessions on Tenant Representation Tips and an overview on Capital Market Turmoil and Investor Analysis. The value of involvement in our Central Canada Chapter is immeasurable, particularly in this quickly evolving marketplace. Professionals from all areas of commercial investment real estate, including residential practitioners are welcome. Remember, you do not have to be a CCIM Institute member to join our Chapter. I encourage you to visit our Chapter website at http://chapters.ccim.com/centralcanada for downloads of relevant seminar topics.
