ALLOWANCES Motor Vehicle Allowance South Australia. Sales classifications full time $40 per week if required to use their own car. Part time or casual $.68 per hour capped at $40 per week. The car allowance for a full time sales trainee on a contract of training is $0 per week.. Property Sales Associate in the alternative $0.76 per kilometre.. Managers and Associates will not have an award car allowance until //5. Even so the employer should offer a reasonable allowance if the employee is required to use their own car. 4. Clerks must receive $0.76 per kilometre if required to use their own car for work duties. Northern Territory. Salespersons and Associates will not have an award car allowance until //5.. Managers and Associates will not have an award car allowance until //5. Even so the employer should offer a reasonable allowance if the employee is required to use their own car.. Clerks must receive $0.76 per kilometre if required to use their own car for work duties. Mobile Phone Reimbursement. For salespersons, property/strata managers and associates using their own mobile for work, under the award, no specific amount of reimbursement is prescribed; but if there is no reasonable amount for reimbursement offered by the employer and agreed, then the employer must pay ALL the costs of the mobile phone except private calls. For guidance somewhere around $0/wk is probably reasonable for a basic mobile and $0/wk where emails and internet are required. The agreed amount of reimbursement must be agreed in writing.. For clerks the award does not mention an allowance for a mobile phone. Clerks are rarely required to use their own mobile for work and where they are should be offered some type of reimbursement based on usage. Standby/Callout Compensation for Managers & Associates. Standby is usually when a property/strata manager or associate is required to take/make phone calls after hours. Normally the issue would be fixed from the current location of the employee by use of the mobile phone. Page 7 of
. Callout is usually when a property/strata manager or associate is required to return to active duty after they have finished work. Normally the issue could not be fixed from the current location of the employee by use of the mobile phone and would require the employee to travel somewhere.. As with a mobile phone allowance there is no prescribed amount for compensation in the award but the compensation offered must be reasonable based on the anticipated amount of standby/callout and must be agreed in writing. 4. If no compensation amount is offered and agreed upon then all the hours spent on standby/callout, under the award, will be counted as ordinary hours. For example, a property manager finishes their 8 hour week at 5 pm on Friday and then is required by the employer to be on standby/callout for the weekend where no compensation amount is offered and agreed could claim payment for the whole weekend and that would get very expensive. 5. As a guide and based on the anticipated frequency of standby/callout maybe pick a figure somewhere between $500 and $,000 per annum and offer that compensation. 6. Compensation can a specific designated amount included in a salary or it can be offered as being paid separately. It is not unusual for standby/callout compensation to be included in a salary but how much of the salary is designated for standby/callout must be stated in writing. Uniform. If a salesperson, property/strata manager or associate is required to wear a uniform the employer must either provide it or pay for it. The employee is responsible laundering/dry cleaning. What constitutes the uniform is at the discretion of the employer but reasonableness would need to prevail on what is needed over the week and when items are being laundered or dry cleaned. The uniform remains the employer s property and must be returned when the employee leaves.. If a clerk is required to wear and launder a uniform any cost of the uniform must be reimbursed and the employee must be paid $.55 for laundry expenses per week. Meal Allowance. A clerk required to work for more than one and a half hours of overtime without being given 4 hours notice after the employee s ordinary time of ending work will be either provided with a meal or paid a meal allowance of $4.08. Where such overtime work exceeds four hours a further meal allowance of $.7 will be paid.. There is no meal allowance in the Real Estate Industry Award. First Aid Allowance. A clerk who has been trained to render first aid, is the current holder of appropriate first aid qualifications such as a certificate from St John Ambulance Australia or a similar body and is appointed by an employer to perform first aid duty must be paid a weekly allowance of.5% of the standard rate.. There is no first aid allowance in the Real Estate Industry Award. Page 8 of
Higher Duties Allowance. A clerk, when required to perform any of the duties in a classification higher than their usual classification for more than one day must be paid at least the rate which would be applicable if such duties were performed on a permanent basis.. There is no higher duties allowance in the Real Estate Industry Award. District Allowance. Northern Territory A clerk in the Northern Territory is entitled to payment of a district allowance in accordance with the terms of an award made under the Workplace Relations Act 996 (Cth): (i) (ii) that would have applied to the employee immediately prior to January 00, if the employee had at that time been in their current circumstances of employment and no agreement-based transitional instrument or enterprise agreement had applied to the employee; and that would have entitled the employee to payment of a district allowance.. There is no district allowance in South Australia. Page 9 of
