There is National Hunt racing and Polo a short distance away at Scone Palace. Directions Leave the M90 motorway at Junction 9 (Bridge of Earn) and follow the A912 towards Cupar and Newburgh. After about 1.8 miles bear left at the small roundabout on to the A913 and, after a further 0.3 miles, on reaching the small village of Aberargie the drive leading to Ayton will be seen on the right hand side at the end of the village, next to Ayton North Lodge. Description Ayton House is an exceptional Georgian mansion which has an earlier Jacobean wing with later additions by Robert Lorimer. It is believed to be built on the site of a Roman watchtower and has a colourful history, documented from Jacobean times on. In summary there are 5 main reception rooms, 13 bedrooms, and 10 bath and shower rooms (total 14,200 sq ft). The house is set in about 12.6 acres of mature lawns with majestic trees and a historic lime tree avenue. There is a hard tennis court in need of some
