Descendants of Jackson Lindsey Kimble 12 17 M ii. Fenton Cary Kimball [8288] was born on 3 Apr 1916 and died on 17 Nov 2002 in Providence Cemetery, Mathews, VA at age 86. Euology: 17 Nov 2002. Fenton Moved to Mathews county when he was six months old. After high school he dated Dorthy Greene for almost a year, but the relationship ended when he choose to set sail to see the world in 1935. He stayed at sea, jumping from one ship to another, whenever they arrived in port, until World War II began in 1939. Once the war started he headed back to Norfolk and joined the Merchant Marines transporting freight for the Mystic Steamship Corporation. In 1942 he began working for the Pennsylvania Railroad on a tugboat transporting railcars from the Newport News peninsula to Cape Charles. He quickly rose to Captain on a Pennsylvania Railroad Tugboat and worked for them for 30 years before retiring. During this time he decorated his home in Mathews with a section of Pennsylvania Railroad and enormous keystone emblem rescued from a scrap pile. This sign is a well recognized marker along route 14 & 198. Fenton married his first wife, Joan in 1941 and she died in 1965. Fenton married his second wife Ida Hudgins in 1976 and she died in 1991. Then Fenton was reunited with Dorothy Greene Fowler, 50 years after they first met and they were married in 1992. This is truly a love story. Dottie tells me Fenton gave her, her first kiss. To sit in church and watch them was just wonderful, to see two people so in love. Fenton was an Elder and a trustee of Westville Christian Church. Know one will ever know how many jobs Fenton did for the Church because he never told anyone, he just did what needed to be done with no fanfare or rewards. Doing things for the Lord was his reward. Kimball Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan 20, 2003 at 2 P.M. in the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. Burial followed in the St. Paul Annex Cemetery, Susan.
