President's Desk... Dear Members and Associates, Everyone can blame the last giant snowfall on me, I had taken my plow off my truck. I made the terrible assumption that any small snows for the rest of the spring wouldn t need to be plowed. I apologize to everyone and hope that the last of the snow is finally melting and we will be able to enjoy some spring/summer weather finally! With the melting snow comes the need for spring clean up and prep for lawn care all summer. As always if you need help with lawncare or any other maintenance aspect please consider our associate members. It is great to support the associates that support us. If you haven t heard that City of Stevens Point is moving forward with a voluntary rental inspection program. They are going to have a checklist that they will stick to and are looking for basic safety issues. You can contact the city if you have any questions, would like a copy of the list or would like to sign your properties up for inspection. There will be a published list of properties that have been certified by the City for potential tenants to check. If you have any questions don t hesitate to contact myself or any of the board members with questions. The State legislature passed some new landlord/tenant legislation in the last few weeks. We will be working on a speaker at one of the next few meetings to go over all of the changes. As soon as a synopsis is available I will post it to the Facebook page as well (if you are on Facebook and not a member of the CWAA Facebook page let me know and I can get you added. I want to thank all of our members for being a part of our association. Without each of you we would not be as good of an organization. We are always looking for new members, new associate members and board members. If you can think of anyone that would be a good fit for any of those just let me know and I can touch base with them. MINUTES Central Wisconsin Apartment Association Board of Directors Meeting Minutes April 11, 2018 Present: N. Eschenbauch, T. Haines, C. Burch, M. Beacom, D. Plaisance, T. Gaboda, M. Kaczmarek Absent: S. Johnson, K. Schultz Executive Secretary: C. Harris The meeting was called to order by President Noah Eschenbauch at 3:32 p.m. in the Candlewood boardroom. MSP to approve the February 14, 2018 minutes. MSP to accept the Treasurer s report with account balances of $28,364.84. March Meeting Review - The leasing program went well, however, there was low attendance. We will ask members at the May meeting about starting later and other options. May Meeting Planning - The May program will be on maintenance and apartment turnovers. There will also be an update on city council activity. We will have a pizza buffet for dinner with salad and chicken wings. Summer Picnic - The picnic will be held August 8th at Iverson Park. It will be pot luck plus KFC chicken. Annual Meeting - The annual meeting will be September 12th. We will ask John Fischer if he could speak on the new law changes, or a topic to be determined later. Menu will be lasagna. Committee Assignments: Stacy Johnson will be added to the program committee. For Latest Information - Members are encouraged to join our Facebook group for the latest on city council actions. AASCW Update - Nancy is back as director while they search for a new one. Bills passed both houses and is going to Governor to sign next week. CCAP has more detail now; after 2 years some dismissals and acquittals are removed. There may be some changes to emotional support animal rules.
