West Cast Fds is a partnership invlving eight surrunding cities acrss the Lwer Mainland and filmed the Green Lettuce Restaurant Vide. The delegatin nted that Turism Surrey began a strategic planning prcess in December f 2015 and expect t have a final reprt prepared by the end f May 2016. A select grup f peple will be invited t attend the destinatin experience wrkshp t create the new visin fr Surrey. An engagement and planning wrkshp is planned fr April 1 and the general ppulatin will be invited t participate. C. OUTSTANDING BUSINESS D. NEW BUSINESS 1. Museum s Kids Gallery Presentatin Lynn Saffery, Museum Manager and Greg Yellenik, Exhibits Curatr File: 7850-01 In attendance befre the Cmmittee t prvide a presentatin n the Museum s Kids Gallery. The fllwing cmments were made: The Kids Gallery prvides relevant learning thrugh playing, being physical and prmting critical thinking. The Gallery fcusses n intrducing challenging cncepts such as sustainability and climate change t fcus n hw children can participate and cntribute twards a green cmmunity. The pririty is t allw children t becme critical thinkers and be prud f what they are ding themselves and prud f their cmmunity. There were apprximately 950 visitrs at the Octber 15, 2015, re-pening f the Kids Gallery at the Surrey Museum. Planning t expand the gallery has cmmenced and rganizers expect t launch new themes f energy, water, and agriculture in phases beginning Octber 2016. In the Gallery, three main characters bring the children thrugh the activities ffered and interact with the children by asking questins abut sustainability. All interactive mdels and archetypes were develped, designed, engineered, and fabricated in-huse. The City f Surrey s Engineering Department helped present ideas and cncepts and cntributed t the design f many prjects. 2. January Wrkshp Fllw-up Discussin Sheila McKinnn, Manager, Arts Services Members f the Cmmittee were asked t review the initiatives and strategies that were brainstrmed at the January 19, 2016, wrkshp. The ideas included prspective delegatins, presentatins, and infrmatin items that members wuld like t see at the upcming meetings fr the remainder f the 2016 calendar year. Thse items that had the mst interest were flagged as high pririty and will help frm the upcming meeting agendas. 3. 2016/2017 Fees & Charges Laurie Cavan, General Manager, Parks, Recreatin and Culture File: 1810-01 The 2016/2017 Fees & Charges reprt prvides infrmatin n where the prpsed existing fees and charges fr Culture facilities and services will be adjusted effective September 1, 2016 if adpted by Cuncil. RECOMMENDATION: Mved by B. McMurray Secnded by U. Maxwell-Lewis That the Parks, Recreatin and Culture Department recmmends that the Culture Develpment Advisry Cmmittee pass a mtin t recmmend that Cuncil: 1. Adpt the prpsed 2016/2017 Fees & Charges increases t the existing By-Law N. 15391: Parks, Recreatin & Culture Rental and Admissin Fees as generally described in this reprt; 2. That the 2016/2017 Fees & Charges reprt be attached as an appendix t the minutes f the Culture Develpment Advisry Cmmittee fr Cuncil s reference when they apprve the recmmendatins; and 3. That the 2016/2017 Fees & Charges Schedule attached as Appendix I be adpted and added t the Surrey Parks, Recreatin and Culture Fee-Setting By-law. E.
