(NASDAQ: DLTR) is the largest and most successful single-price-point retailer in North America, operating thousands of stores across 48 contiguous U.S. states and five Canadian provinces, supported by a solid and scalable logistics network. In mid-2015, purchased Family Dollar. Taking into account Family Dollar s 114.5 million shares outstanding, the deal s total price tag was approximately $9.1 billion. First Quarter Results (Fiscal Qtr 04/30/2016) Consolidated net sales increased 133.6% to $5.09 billion from $2.18 billion in the prior year s first quarter. The increase included $2.70 billion in sales from Family Dollar stores. Gross profit increased 107.6%, to $1.55 billion in the first quarter compared to $748.9 million in the prior year s first quarter. During the quarter, the Company opened 171 stores, expanded or relocated 66 stores, and closed 19 stores.

9 Gadsden, Alabama Overview Gadsden is a city in and the county seat of Etowah County in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is located on the Coosa River about 56 miles northeast of Birmingham and 90 miles (140 km) southwest of Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is the primary city of the Gadsden Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 103,931. Gadsden and Rome, Georgia, are the largest cities in the triangular area defined by the Interstate highways between Atlanta, Birmingham, and Chattanooga. The Gadsden City Board of Education oversees fourteen schools: eight elementary schools, three middle schools, one high school, and two specialty schools, one alternative center and one technical center. A new high school, Gadsden City High School, replaced the three former city high schools via merger. Gadsden is home to Gadsden State Community College, the second largest of the 27 two-year institutions in the Alabama Community College System.
