The City of Beverly Hills Fine Art Commission recently invited three distinguished art museum curators to share their knowledge and provide direction for future works of art that the public can enjoy. Philippe Vergne, Director of Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA); Stephanie Barron, Senior Curator, Department of Modern Art at Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA); and Anne Ellegood, Senior Curator at the Hammer Museum, shared their expertise and provided insight to the various styles of public art, its interaction with the community, their thoughts on the City s current Public Art Collection and ideas for future acquisitions. The Commission highly values the input of Vergne, Barron and Ellegood, said Alan Kaye, Beverly Hills Fine Arts Commission Chair. We have a very talented pool of artists in the Los Angeles region, and their input provided us with ideas and gave us direction on how to attract emerging and established artists who want their art to be part of the City s Public Art Collection. We will continue to invite experts and collaborate with them so that we offer public artworks that are diverse, dynamic and stimulating. The new Guest Speaker Presentations are now online and can be found at www.beverlyhills.org/fineartcommission. Beverly Hills has over 60 pieces of public art on display throughout the City. As a world-renowned city, Beverly Hills prides itself in providing the public with a first rate fine art experience to enrich the lives of persons who live, work or visit the City.
