GIB GATE GATEWAY 2008 2 PDHPE & SPORT Anika Berkelouw (Kindergarten) loved the relay races at the T - 2 Fun Carnival Beatrix Faulkner watches on while Billie Coupland (Year 5) lines up for a race at the Athletics Carnival in Term 3 Michael Zawal (Year 5) and Anthony Uliana (Year 6) fought out a close race at the Cross Country Carnival Jamieson House again triumphed at the Athletics Carnival in 2008 Anthony Uliana (Year 6) participated in the AFL clinics Caitlan Mahony (Year 6) ran well at the SHIPS Cross Country Carnival T - 2 Fun Carnival in Term 4 Emil Thaning (Year 3), Olivia Spring and Lilli Jepcott (Year 6) qualified for the CIS Cross Country Championships

GIB GATE GATEWAY 2008 3 PDHPE & SPORT Cristina Schulz (Year 6) assists Anna Thomas (Year 1) in one of her events Year 2 enjoyed the K - 2 Swimming Carnival Kindergarten children enjoy the Swimming Development Programme at Bowral Pool in Term 4 Ryley (Year 3) and Mitchell Wickham (Year 4) show their House spirit at the 3-6 Swimming Carnival in Term 1 Airlie Kinross, Thea Horsley and Madison Moore qualified for the NSW State Championships Year 5 Bike Education Day in Term 3 The Under 12 Cricket Team provided lunchtime entertainment at the Womens Test Match at Bradman Oval Matthew Worden in action for the Under 10 cricket team

GIB GATE GATEWAY 2008 4 PDHPE & SPORT The triumphant Lightning Boltz after the netball grandfinal Olivia Spring (Year 6) shoots for goal Jordan Shephard and Matilda Macqueen won Most Valuable Player awards in their respective netball divisions in the SHNA Olivia Lalak (Year 4) was a strong player for her Basketball Team Yasmine Taylor, Lauren Chapman, Georgina Harrington and Sophie Driver parading with the Winifred West Schools banner, at the Camden Interschools Equestrian event The Gib Gate Tee-ball team displayed great improvement throughout the season

GIB GATE GATEWAY 2008 5 PDHPE & SPORT The Under 11 Hockey Team with coach Natalie Thomson Airlie Kinross (Year 4) wrestles a Moss Vale player for the ball in the Under 9 Hockey semi-final Madison Moore and Skyla Harris helped the Under 9 Hockey team win their semi final Left (L-R): William Chambers (Kindergarten) out paces the opposition in an Under 6 Rooball game; Under 6 Rooballers in action during the winter. Below (L-R): Joshua Mazurkiewicz (Kindergarten) is supported by Matthew Hardy during an Under 6 Rooball game; Year 4 had fun during the Soccer clinics in Term 2; The Under 7 Rooball Team enjoyed a successful Soccer season; Emil Thaning looks for a way through the strong Bowral United defense.

GIB GATE GATEWAY 2008 8 LIBRARY In 2008, This year, Gib Gate celebrated Book Week with the theme Reading Down Under. The week began with the students thoroughly entertained by popular Australian children s book author, Richard Tulloch. The celebrations continued later in the week with the students from Transition to Year 6 dressing up as a character from a book by an Australian author for the annual character parade. This year the students were also asked to bring along the book from which their character jumped out of. The day concluded with a traditional Aussie BBQ for the students on the front lawn. GIB GATE GATEWAY 2008 12 MUSIC Sinbad Sails Again Georgina Harrington & Lili Jephcott in Sinbad Sails Again Grandparent s Day singing In 2008 Gib Gate students had the opportunity to experience a variety of visiting artists including; Musica Viva performances by Tigramuna and Ensemble Trioka, OzOpera s The Barber of Seville, DrumBeat and the Torres Strait Islander Dance Troupe. All students from Transition Preschool to Year 2 enjoyed their Musical Production of Captain Noah and students from Year 3-6 were outstanding in their Musical Production of Sinbad Sails Again. Musical highlights for 2008 include the parent/ staff choir at the Christmas Concert with We Three Kings showcasing some of the Gib Gate fathers, the combined choral item of One Voice at the Winifred West Schools Birthday Service, Gib Gate Orchestra performances at the Soiree, the Madrigals supporting the younger students at Clubbe Hall and many high quality individual performances at the weekly Performance Assemblies.
