BACKGROUND 1.1 Circular 13 of 2012 has been received from the Department of Basic Education with reference to Senior Certificate Examination (Report NATED 550). 1.2 This Assessment Instruction is based on Circular 13 and outlines the Literature set works prescribed for candidates who will sit for the Senior Certificate (REPORT 550) examinations in 2013 and 2014 Page 1 of 6
1.3 The list of prescribed set works is included in the attached list (ANNEXURE A) and must be advocated as widely as possible in the Province as these candidates have left school already. 2. INFORMATION ON SETWORKS 2.1 The number of set works has been streamlined as follows: 2 Novels 2 Drama 4 Poems 4 Short Stories 3. 2013 SENIOR CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION 3.1 As from 2013 all the Literature question papers (Paper 2) of the language question papers will be set nationally by the Department of Basic Education (DBE). 3.2 Up to 2012, the literature question papers for this examination were set in each Province. 4.
