KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Darren Smyth Head of Commercial at Shannon Airport Darren Smyth is the Head of Commercial at Shannon Airport, part of the Shannon Group plc, the commercial semi state company established in 2013. It includes Shannon Airport, Shannon Commercial Properties, Shannon Heritage and the International Aviation Services Centre. Working in this group of businesses from heritage to tourism to aviation to regional development, we have asked Darren to share his views on Design and why design matters in retail, in consumer products, business services and events. Darren will give insights on how he thinks design can impact on consumer reactions and interactions; and why design is relevant to all sectors and business sizes. She is a futurist at heart, recognised for her ability to anticipate shifts in the social, cultural and economic context for design. She was one of the pioneering researchers to focus on wearable technologies and built a reputation for research activity in this arena. PANEL OF SPEAKERS Fiona Kearney Director of the Glucksman Gallery, UCC ASK Fiona Kearney is the founding Director of the Glucksman, a contemporary art space on the campus of University College Cork. Designing products and services around the end consumer can be the unique selling point. 2017 has been one of the most successful years for Cork micro enterprises. It had led to the creation of almost 260 jobs for County Cork. Almost 70 companies using Cork County Council s Local Enterprise Office (LEO) structure helped provide new jobs across a wide range of sectors including food, tech, retail, and professional services.
