DesignVA DesignMornings Every month, designva, affiliated with the Branch Museum of Architecture and Design, organizes a gathering of young architects and designers in and around Richmond. They gather to see, hear and socialize about interesting works of design and prominent designers in our area. This past December, a group had an early morning tour of the Shed at the Main Street Station. Coffee and donuts were provided by one of their sponsors, Gulf Seaboard General Contractors, Inc. Check out the calendar of events organized by designva on Facebook and join the fun. www.facebook.com/branchdesignva Photographs of this event are provided by Jami Carlton Photography. the pedestal // 18.1 / 4

Design concepts as well as many of the complexities of the project were discussed, including the integration of all new building systems into the old, Type IV structure, the use of wayfinding, and sustainability strategies used in pursuing LEED Gold. In addition to office space, the 5 story building was expanded to include an upper level multipurpose event space and outdoor roof deck with views of the city. view of new addition interior view architects lining up to tour the pedestal // 18.1 / 6
