PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Rob McMillan, PLS As the calendar year is winding down, change is in the air. Our change of seasons with the passing of summer to fall to winter is certainly on a compressed schedule this year. Over the last couple of days, the area has finally received a bit of much needed rain. This is a welcome change from the heat we were experiencing just a few weeks ago, but it can make construction sites a mess. I made two trips to Southern California in October, and you can imagine I crossed a few rivers that were little more than muddy creeks, if that. The weather isn t the only change that we re seeing this fall. Changes happening in our area include a couple of members from another Chapter moving to the Sacramento area and joining new local firms, and changes in employers for a couple of our members. Welcome to the Sacramento area Claudia Barrueta and Antonio Westerlund. Both are Geomatics Engineering graduates of California State University Fresno. After graduation, they worked together at Johnson-Frank and Associates in Southern California. Claudia will be working for Morton and Pitalo, and Antonio will be working with Wood- Rogers. We look forward to having you at our meetings and events as Sacramento Chapter members. For Sacramento CLSA s Member at Large on the CLSA Board of Directors, Annette Lockhart, the change is her departure from the Cadastral Unit at the Department of Water Resources, and her return to Caltrans. Annette will be working for the District 3 Right of Way Engineering branch in the Marysville District Office. Although the commute to Marysville is a bit longer than to downtown, Annette will continue to represent our Chapter. (Continued on page 4) 3
CALENDAR DETAILS vember 6th Sacramento Chapter Meeting5:00 PM - 8:00 pm See page 1 cember 11th Beginning of LS Prep Class Contact Rob McMillan for further information (Continued from page 3) The other significant change is that BPELSG Senior Land Surveyor Registrar Ray Mathe has accepted a position in Southern California as the Chief Surveyor of the Coachella Valley Water District. Not only will BPELSG be losing his expertise, but we will be losing him as a member to the Desert Chapter. Ray will certainly be missed in Sacramento. Any chance we can get a future draft pick from the Desert Chapter? See you at the next Chapter meeting! Rob McMillan, PLS, EIT 4
