2017-2018 Report of National Student s Conference on Architectural Lighting Day/Date: Wednesday 21 st February 2018 Timing: 9:00 AM-6:00PM Theme: Architectural Lighting Organised By: Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University s College of Architecture in collaboration with Indian Society of Lighting Engineers, Pune Local Centre Faculty coordinator: Prof. Archana Gaikwad Objective: To provide a platform for student s of architecture to share their research, interact with industry experts and understand light through a workshop. Venue: College of Architecture, BVDU, Pune-46 About the conference: Architectural Lighting is a core subject for the course and we have formed Indian Society of Lighting Engineers (ISLE) student s chapter in the college to promote industry institute interaction. Although LIGHTING plays an important role in everybody s life, still IT IS TAKEN LIGHTLY, not only in India, but almost all over the World. Till now Lighting is taken merely as fixing a Bulb or a Tube Light, just to have Illumination for activities. In recent years, another dimension Energy Efficiency has been attached to Lighting. With technology advancement such as LED and others in the field, there is a need of formal education on various aspects of Lighting. This conference aimed to provide opportunity to present research papers, participate in interactive workshop on lighting and interact with industry experts in the field. The conference had three segments: Product presentation, paper presentations and interactive workshop. Prof. Student Representatives: Aashish Upadhyay Diksha Patil The conference posters and flyers were sent to various colleges in India through post, by hand, social media and emails. A face book page was created to outreach the targeted participants. 20 abstracts were received from various institutes across India. Finally, seven full length papers were selected for presentation in the conference. 51 delegates from various institutes attended the conference in addition to another 50 faculty members of college of architecture and invitees from the industry. The conference was supported by BVDU and sponsors from industry such as Endolite, Parwani Enterprises, Padma traders and K-Lite. Eminent architect Mr. Shrikant Nivasrkar was invited as a chief guest and Prof. Dr. Manikrao Salunkhe, Hon.Vice Chancellor, BVDU as the guest of honor. Other invitees included Prof. Dr. Shashank Joshi, Dean, faculty of Engineering, Pune and office bearers of ISLE. Mr. Ramesh Chavan was the chief guest for valedictory function. A. Research Paper Presentations Research Papers were called on following themes from senior students of B.Arch, M.Arch and fresh graduates: 1. Light and Space 2. Lighting for outdoor spaces (Landscape, Public spaces, recreational spaces) 3. Lighting in Interiors 4. Human centric lighting 5. Sustainable Lighting 7 best papers were presented in the conference. Ar. Nandurbarkar, Prof. Gandhe and Ar. Bangale moderated the session of paper presentation. Paper presentations: Panel of experts and a delegate presenting research paper. Paper presentations: Research paper author s in question and answer session.

About the workshop The workshop conducted by Mr. Kaustubh Nandurbarkar was oriented towards explaining the design approach to attain a good illuminous through various techniques and tools.
