[page 6 of 6] Research in Progress: During my post-professional degree at UT I pursued a dual focus in sustainable design and historic preservation. My research interests continue in this vein, using social sciences approaches to research to investigate social dimensions of sustainability, the possibility for more inclusive building assessment systems, the adaptive use of aged buildings, and Science and Technology Studies in the academic fields of preservation and architecture. Based on the courses I teach, I have also developed interests in the realm of preservation pedagogy, particularly with respect to the history of building technology curriculum component. Staying abreast of technical methods and philosophical framing of building documentation is another facet of my research interests that stems from direct application in the classroom with both the IDC course and Preservation Studio.
