creativepassions Celebrating literature in portraits and words Photographs by Donna-Lisa Healy readings workshops TalkS 1 February 3 March 2012 Exhibition 10am-6pm Monday-Thursday 10am-5pm Friday 10am-1pm Saturday Entry 4/ 2

A Lit & Phil Fundraising event inspired Donna- Lisa Healy to start a photographic project to help the Library. Donna-Lisa invited some of the many authors, poets, playwrights and publishers who have a connection with the Lit & Phil to be involved, and captured their images within the Library. CreativePassions comprises 56 portraits and is more than just a snapshot of a year in the life of the Society. It is a record of the diversity of individuals and activity that is so much part of the Lit & Phil s raison d être: an independent space for thinking, conversation and creativity. For Donna-Lisa, the process is about much more than taking a photograph: This project, more than a year in the making, has been a series of conversations too, between photographer and sitter. Being engaged with the life of these individuals, if only for a short time, has been a privilege and has had a profound effect upon me. I hope that these portraits reflect the diversity of the life of the Lit & Phil, and go some way to convey the moment, the here and now for the sitters at the time. Donna-Lisa Healy is a MA student in Photography at Sunderland University. This is her first public exhibition.
