Choosing a Meal Plan Choosing a Meal Plan 14 Your Student ID, OneCard doubles as your food card and works on a declining balance like a debit card. Your meal card starts with a certain amount of credit on it and each time you use it at one of the cafeterias, the cost of your meal is deducted. Fall Semester Winter Semester Total Small Meal Plan* $1,701.10 $1,701.10 $3,402.20 Medium Meal Plan* $1,852.53 $1,852.53 $3,705.06 Large Meal Plan* $2,051.36 $2,051.36 $4,102.72 Flex Meal Plan $1,303.24 $1,303.24 $2,606.48 *Meal Plan prices are included in the residence fees. Supplemental funds may be necessary for snacks, eating out, etc. This is particularly relevant to the smaller meal contracts offered at the ILLC and in Pitman Hall. You can always add more money to the meal plan by contacting the OneCard office (www.ryerson.ca/onecard). PLEASE NOTE: Balances remaining on your card at the end of the fall semester will be carried over into the winter semester, However, balances remaining on your card at the end of the academic year cannot be carried forward to the next academic year. The money on your card is nonrefundable and non-transferable. 15 Residence Fees Residence Fees Residence fees are made up of a number of individual charges. The charges go towards paying for services you receive in residence. Rent (charged in fall & winter) Meal Plan (charged in fall & winter) Communication Fees (charged in fall & winter) Food Admin (non-refundable) Res Programming Fee (used for residence life programs and activities, nonrefundable) Res Council Fee (used for residence activities & events, non-refundable) Laundry Fee (non-refundable) ILLC O Keefe House Pitman Hall The specific charges that make up your residence fees can be found online (http://www.ryerson.ca/studentservices/housing/fee/feeschedule/index.html). Your residence fees will show as the individual charges in your RAMSS student fees account. Residence fees are posted in the fall, winter, and occasionally the spring/summer terms. PLEASE NOTE: Your residence charges have already been applied to your RAMSS account, except for meal plan fees. We need to wait for you to select a meal plan before we charge you. When you pay your fees please pay for all your residence charges at once including the meal plan charges. Your meal plan charge will be applied to your RAMSS account shortly after the 1st installment deadline.

16 Residence Fees Reading Fees in your RAMSS Account Most fee charges, if not all charges, at Ryerson are applied to your RAMSS student fees account (SFA). In your SFA you will have a mix of fees including your residence fees, tuition fees, program ancillary fees, etc. Also the longer you attend Ryerson more fees and terms will be applied to your account. By the end of your time at Ryerson (assuming a four year undergraduate degree) you will most likely have a minimum of eight terms worth of fees. IMPORTANT: Payments in your SFA show as credits or negative numbers and charges show as debits or positive numbers. This is different from what you typically see when you re reading your bank account or bills, so it may take some time to get used to. Any time you pay money into your SFA the money will be applied to the oldest charge that has not yet been paid. If you are expecting to pay your residence fees, but your tuition fees were charged first (and you haven t paid them yet) the payment will go towards paying your tuition fees first. It is a really good idea to regularly check your SFA to monitor your charges & payments. This way you are able to ensure you ve been charged the correct amounts, that you don t owe any money and also avoid late fees being charged to your SFA. More information on reading your RAMSS account can be found online (www.ryerson.ca/studentservices/housing/fee/index.html) More Questions? If you have any additional questions, please feel free to call Housing & Residence Life at (416) 979-5284 or email us at housing@ryerson.ca

Insurance Ryerson does not assume any responsibility for money or personal property in your room. As well, you are responsible for any damage to your room including the tearing and breaking of furnishings. We strongly recommend you carry some form of personal property & liability insurance, it is usually inexpensive... especially when you consider the possibility of costs involved in replacing your clothes, computer, stereo, CD s, etc. Forget Something? Don t worry if you forget any of the small stuff you need! Since we re in downtown Toronto, it s pretty easy to pick up any little thing you forget!

19 FAQs Frequently Asked Questions Will there be a place to store my trunk, suitcases, etc.? Anything you bring with you will need to be stored in your room. Try to pack most of your belongings in collapsible/recyclable containers. Do I need insurance? Yes! Ryerson does not assume responsibility for money or personal property in your rooms or damage that you may cause. You are advised to make sure your room door is shut and locked when you leave. We strongly recommend you carry some form of personal property & liability insurance, covering items which you have in your room. The insurance is inexpensive, especially when you consider the cost of replacing your clothes, computer, stereo, CD s, etc. Can I stay in my room after my exams? You are required to vacate your room by 9:00 pm on the day of your last exam in December or by 12:00 noon on December 19th, 2015. The same space is available to you again from January 7th, 2016 at 12:00 noon until 9:00 pm on the day of your final exam in April or 12:00 noon, April 30, 2016 (whichever comes first). You do not have to remove your belongings during the mid-year break but at this time the residences are officially closed and there is no access whatsoever. We suggest that you take home valuables such as money, MP3 players, etc. All residents are required to vacate their rooms and the premises during this period. Residents can contact our Off-Campus Housing Office to help make arrangements to stay in Toronto. Is there parking for residents? There are a limited number of parking spaces available for residents. However, with the public transportation system here, you do not need a car to get around. If you do decide to bring a car, you can contact University Business Services at (416) 979-5000 ext. 5008 for more information on rates, availability, etc. Can I visit the residences before I move in? Absolutely! Tours of the residences are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:30 am until August 7th, 2015. Please register online at: http://tinyurl.com/rureztours What Day Is Move-In Day? Move-in Day is August 30th, 2015. We ll be posting more information about Move-in Day shortly after the Residence Offer response deadline, July 8th, 2015. Can I find out my room number, my roommate s info, etc.? We do not provide roommate information because we keep all of your information confidential. We are also not able to let you know your room number ahead of time because there are always changes made to the floor plans up to the day of move-in. You will receive all of your room and roommate information when you move-in. More Questions?
