15 Residence Fees Residence Fees Residence fees are made up of a number of individual charges. The charges go towards paying for services you receive in residence. Rent (charged in fall & winter) Meal Plan (charged in fall & winter) Communication Fees (charged in fall & winter) Food Admin (non-refundable) Res Programming Fee (used for residence life programs and activities, nonrefundable) Res Council Fee (used for residence activities & events, non-refundable) Laundry Fee (non-refundable) ILLC O Keefe House Pitman Hall The specific charges that make up your residence fees can be found online (http://www.ryerson.ca/studentservices/housing/fee/feeschedule/index.html). Your residence fees will show as the individual charges in your RAMSS student fees account. Residence fees are posted in the fall, winter, and occasionally the spring/summer terms. PLEASE NOTE: Your residence charges have already been applied to your RAMSS account, except for meal plan fees. We need to wait for you to select a meal plan before we charge you. When you pay your fees please pay for all your residence charges at once including the meal plan charges. Your meal plan charge will be applied to your RAMSS account shortly after the 1st installment deadline.
16 Residence Fees Reading Fees in your RAMSS Account Most fee charges, if not all charges, at Ryerson are applied to your RAMSS student fees account (SFA). In your SFA you will have a mix of fees including your residence fees, tuition fees, program ancillary fees, etc. Also the longer you attend Ryerson more fees and terms will be applied to your account. By the end of your time at Ryerson (assuming a four year undergraduate degree) you will most likely have a minimum of eight terms worth of fees. IMPORTANT: Payments in your SFA show as credits or negative numbers and charges show as debits or positive numbers. This is different from what you typically see when you re reading your bank account or bills, so it may take some time to get used to. Any time you pay money into your SFA the money will be applied to the oldest charge that has not yet been paid. If you are expecting to pay your residence fees, but your tuition fees were charged first (and you haven t paid them yet) the payment will go towards paying your tuition fees first. It is a really good idea to regularly check your SFA to monitor your charges & payments. This way you are able to ensure you ve been charged the correct amounts, that you don t owe any money and also avoid late fees being charged to your SFA. More information on reading your RAMSS account can be found online (www.ryerson.ca/studentservices/housing/fee/index.html) More Questions? If you have any additional questions, please feel free to call Housing & Residence Life at (416) 979-5284 or email us at housing@ryerson.ca
