The grounds are very green and both pools are well maintained. The office staff is decent, not the most friendly but also not difficult to work with. Maintenance fixes issues typically within 48 hours. I have not had any issues living here and would recommend it. Distance to Campus: 5-8 minutes depending on the time of day; could potentially walk/bike but there are a few main streets to cross. - you get a gate card ($30; $15 refundable) or a remote ($50; $25 refundable) **If you want to open the gate for visitors you need a 210 phone number to use the system, otherwise you will have to let them in physically by using your gate card (unless they get lucky and someone is already going in) Parking: Not a problem, I usually can park right out front of my apartment, and when I come home late, I can get a spot near my apartment too. Not covered parking. No designated spaces. Pool: They have 5 pools but I've only been to the one Pets: They allow small dogs and cats. $250 non-refundable one time fee; and then $10/mo. added onto rent. They need a picture of your pet and proof of vaccinations (rabies mostly). Workout facility: They have one, but it's not great. A couple old treadmills and various machines. No free weights. The medical center Gold's gym is not far (5-10 min) and there are also other Gold's gyms in the area as well that we have access to with the membership from UTHSCSA that are a much better option. Review #1: Overall, it hasn't been a bad place to live. I've renewed my lease for another year, so that should say something. I think they're one of the best options for the location, price, and what they offer in the area (and I've been on a LOT of apartment searches here). They have a trash pick-up service and washer/dryer in apartment. It s close to campus and its safe. It s close to the grocery store and a gas station. And, its quiet! Review #2 They look very nice but their management is awful. I would not recommend any student to live here. I had a hole in my ceiling due to a leak from the system for a month. It got to the point that mold started growing on the walls. I also had a broken washer for 2 weeks. Maintenance takes about 2-3 weeks to get to your problem. They have poor communication.
They are close to campus but the hassle associated with their poor management is not worth it. The apartment complex recently came under new management at the beginning of the year (Roscoe Properties) and is doing a lot better job than previous management but still have a lot of slack to pick up. As such I really wouldn t recommend it, even though the renovated units do look nice the complex is older and shows on the outside, paneling dirty, cracks in cement on stairs and balconies (some stairs look unsafe), and mail room is pretty rough and some boxes do not close. The other tenants seem nice enough but it is fairly common to hear some of them screaming their drama. Personally I feel safe at this complex and I am unaware of any theft. I am moving from this complex as I had some problems with the unit that occurred under previous management that have not been fixed yet by current management, and I can afford a place that is a lot nicer but a little further away. Maybe after management has been able to fix up the complex more it might be better but currently for the price there are better options. Name of Apartment: Whispering Creek Villas
