photo: Åke E:son Lindman photo: Åke E:son Lindman Glass Bubble Scaniaplatsen 2 21116 Malmö The Glass Bubble is architecture, sculpture and paradise compounded It meets the challenges of an extreme site 'on reclaimed land, in an emerging urban environment, exposed to salty winds, cold winters and hot summers' by becoming a membrane of intersecting biotopes, simultaneously opening and closing the u-shaped court yard of an existing building It introduces a rounded shape amongst a multitude of angular ones It serves as an architectural vehicle for multiple experiences and uses at all times of the year The Glass Bubble is constructed with flat crystal clear low-iron glass that lets a maximum of light into the climate controlled interior garden with its exotic plants The floors inside and outside, and the low walls of the flower beds, are made with a Norwegian shale rich in iron, Otta Högseter, that changes in colour between blackish green and rust On dark nights the Glass Bubble becomes a protruding volume of light on the edge of Malmö's Västra Hamnen Project is public! photo: Åke E:son Lindman photo: Åke E:son Lindman Moderna Museet Malmö Gasverksgatan 22 Malmö http://wwwmodernamuseetse/sv/malmo/ In 1901 architect John Smedberg established a beautiful electricity plant building on Gasverksgatan 22, whose glowing gasholder long gave Malmö residents electricity A little over 100 years later, the building and neighbourhood had changed In 2008 it became clear that the Moderna Museet Malmö would open as a subsidiary to Stockholm, in one of 's most beautiful exhibition halls It would be time to re-fill the old electricity plant building with art The transformation mission went to the award-winning architect firm Tham & Videgård Hansson Arkitekter They chose to establish a new annex - a contemporary addition to the historic building and give the interior an entirely new spatial order The new annex has a perforated orange-red façade, which connects to the brick architecture of the old On street level the façade is fully glazed, for daylight The turbine hall will be separated in three and contains except the exhibition halls a pedagogical workshop photo: Åke E:son Lindman Project is public! 9-2010 Client Tham & Videgård Arkitekter Moderna Museet Malmö TVA Tuesday, Thursday - Sunday 11-18 Wednesday 11-21 Mondays closed Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 3 pm: A guided tour of the current exhibitions The guided tour is included in the admission No advance booking required Free for visitors aged 18 or under Limited numbers Moderna Museet Malmö is located in the city centre of Malmö Ten minutes walk from the Central station, five minutes walk from Gustav Adolfs torg and Stortorget http://wwwmimoaeu/users/ray/guides/malmo/ 6

photo: ptk photo: ptk Housing Kajplats 01 Sundspromenaden 23-27 211 16 Malmö The orientation of the building is clearly related to the sea Big windows open up the rooms to the elements outside, the stairs move towards the horizon and the very structure, with its solid walls, stands fast as a breakwater No balconies punctuate the wall, but courtyard and rooftop have sheltered spots for sun worship The building conforms to the precinct plan created for the 2001 housing expo, while the section with transverse two-storey flats breaches the conventions of apartment blocks photo: ptk Project is not public! 2001 Wingårdh Arkitektkontor -ptk- http://wwwmimoaeu/users/ray/guides/malmo/ 9

Ankarspelet Barometergatan 58 211 17 Malmö Ankerspelet is a public housing project built for MKB, and the 70 apartments are situated on the harbour front of Malmo The precise but varied building complex is shaped like a geometrical cliff with ravines, passages and crevices and defines the western border of the new urbanisation of Vastra Hamnen The interplay between the variedly displaced facades challenges and yet respects the general urban planning of the area, and creates a spatial filter and an articulated threshold between the private and the public space and the city and the open space of Øresund Project is not public! 2009 Kim Utzon HelleBeelden http://wwwmimoaeu/users/ray/guides/malmo/ 11
