Tadao Ando

Tadao Ando His powerful inner vision, ignores whatever movements, schools or styles that might be current, creating buildings with form and composition related to the kind of life that will be lived there. He is accomplishing his self-imposed mission to restore the unity between house and nature. Using the most basic geometric forms, he creates microcosms for the individual with ever changing patterns of light Ando's architecture is an assemblage of artistically composed surprises in space and form. There is never a predictable moment as one moves through his buildings. Comments from the Pritzker Prize jury

Arata Isozaki "I made the approach complex and difficult to understand spatially... the way the Hall is long, bending in various ways and then spiralling upwards. the approach to a temple in Kyoto is never straight. It bends and turns. That is the technique used to make a small place seem more extensive. I use that technique threedimensionally, not twodimensionally." Still exploring modernism in the digital age Architects are still exploring modernism, but with a twist. They are returning to simple forms and exquisite detailing, but an eye to the digital age.
