Choosing your room Roommates Student Housing makes every attempt to accommodate each student s request and match roommates with similar preferences. The housing application includes a section for students with specific roommate requests, as well as a tool to help us best pair you with other students. Gender Neutral Housing Gender Neutral Housing is offered for students who are looking for an inclusive on-campus environment. Gender Neutral Housing allows for same gender, opposite-gender, or other-gender identities to live together as roommates or suitemates, regardless of biological sex. This housing option provides an environment where student housing is not restricted to traditional limitations of the gender binary. Siblings or cousins who wish to live together regularly take advantage of this housing option as well. Summer Housing Summer Housing for students is available in the campus apartments. The rates and application are available online. Housing Accommodations Students who are requesting disability accommodations as part of their application for housing should visit the housing website at www.fortlewis.edu/housing for more information. I love living in the halls because it allows for an easy way to make friends. Everybody keeps their door open, making the hall feel like one big family. Keegan Callahan, West Hall 3
Living Learning Communities Animas Hall and the Faculty-in-Residence Program The Faculty-in-Residence Program fosters a heightened sense of intellectual curiosity by bringing the student-teacher relationship outside the classroom and into the living environment. A full-time faculty member and his/her family make their home in Animas Hall. Both informal interactions between faculty and students and engaging purposeful programs will foster dialogue on broad topical areas such as education, social responsibility, civic engagement, and personal growth. Living on campus all four years, I have experienced the full range of housing environments. I had great living arrangements surrounded by other like-minded and friendly students. Megan Prins, Mears Apartments Bader-Snyder Complex and the Adventure House Program The Adventure House affords students the opportunity to blend academics, community living, and human-powered backcountry adventure. Residents are dedicated to learning about and enjoying wilderness-related activities. Coordinated with the Fort Lewis College Outdoor Pursuits program, staff partner with residents to plan a variety of workshops and clinics around favorite activities such as rafting, biking, backpacking, kayaking, snowshoeing, rock and ice climbing, skiing, riding, wilderness safety and ethics, equipment repair, and so much more! 300 miles of trails within 30 minutes of downtown 4
