Children Library Rua de Entre Quintas 4050 Porto This small pavilion located between the trees in the gardens of the Crystal Palace has two levels with a double height vestibule The library appears as an "objet trouvé" in the nature, participating in this spontaneous environment The volume resembles an old train wagon, lifted slightly off the ground turning it into a light and welcoming space The used materials were chosen according to the environment, following the textures and colours of the nature The structure and wall panels are made out of wood and the windows are sheets of transparent polycarbonate located at the height of the children with awesome views to the gardens It's a building that fits perfectly in this natural environment 1997 Architect Paula Santos Câmar Municipal do Porto Monday: 1400-1800 Tuesday-Saturday: 1000-1800 It's located in the gardens of the Crystal Palace You need to search and follow the signs "Biblioteca Infantil" to reach it http://wwwmimoaeu/users/marconildson/guides/porto/ 10

Burgo Tower Avenida da Boavista Porto This office complex is located in the Avenida da Boavista, the biggest straight line avenue in that extends from "Casa da Música" till the Sea in West This complex opens a large square between the two buildings, one horizontal and the other vertical The square is occupied by a big sculpture by the Porto architect/sculptor Nadir de Afonso The buildings were drawn with very simple shapes, following the influences of Mies and the Chicago buildings The main interest about the building is its façade Its skin is composed out of a single module that wraps all the volumes That module was studied so it could fit on 2 different ways creating a glass façade and an opaque façade Public access unknown!
