HPD VIOLATIONS The Department of Housing Preservation and Development issues violations for conditions like no heat or hot water, vermin, leaks, broken plaster and lead-based paint after an inspection by a Housing Inspector. All of these conditions and many others which affect the quality of residential housing are violations of the Housing Maintenance Code. You can find out whether there are HPD violations pending on your property by viewing open violations at www.nyc.gov/hpd. On the home page, you enter the address of your property on the right hand side section labeled Complaints, Violations and Registration Information and click Search. Then select for the information you want to see in the left hand toolbar. 2
