The Assessment Act states: All real property in Ontario is liable to assessment and taxation, subject to the following exemption from taxation Exempt properties include schools, churches, and hospitals
The Assessment Act tells us: The assessment of land shall be based on its current value current value means, in relation to land, the amount of money the fee simple, if unencumbered, would realize if sold at arm s length by a willing seller to a willing buyer

Ongoing Initiatives Building Permit Initiative Increase accuracy & efficiency in the processing of building permits and delivery of assessment growth MPAC has been working with municipal building departments to achieve compliance Currently in discussions with Marmak to achieve compliance with those municipalities that subscribe to their service (4 of 6 in Muskoka) Occupancy information to be delivered to MPAC electronically (6 of 6 currently sending occupancy info; 3 of 6 sending electronically)
