Statement of Intent: Create an appealing and memorable monument that will: Provide recognition for veterans and military families at a level of caring, excellence, dignity and permanence that is fitting to their sacrifices. Cultivate a deeper public appreciation for the courage, convictions and sacrifices of veterans and military families in defense of their communities and the nation. Foster stronger, deeper, more meaningful connections between veterans and their communities. Build a meaningful space for the community to reflect on and renew its appreciation for the enormous costs and profound value of freedom. Statement of Commitment: A clear and well-defined process that: Successfully integrates the monument into the reimagined fabric of the new downtown an accessible, centrally located gathering area of true civic distinction. Is dedicated to achieving a transparent, open and inclusive process of development marked by extensive consultations with County leadership, civic groups and private sector entities as well as public forums as appropriate. Leads to a strengthened County vision of itself as a place that is creative, caring, inclusive, respectful and sustainable. Paves the way for a visionary level of patronage in the private sector. Prioritizes design excellence throughout the process.
