My tasks included the initial feasability study to assert the efficiency of implementing the pv cover system. This was realised by developing a dedicated software to analyse and output the rate of energy return of each roof, using grasshopper, rhinoscript and ecotect. The preliminary, architectural and detailed design phases of the project were also my responsibility as project leader, guiding a team of up to 4 people.

The drawings resulted from the software were used in different project phases, from the initial planning of the bridges, fixing the geometrical restraints, to ordering of parts and pouring the foundations. The software used as input the coordinates of the connection axis to an already existing building part, and built the entire geometry based on data such as axes distances, steel profile sizes, connetion types, etc. The input data could be changed over sliders, so that the entire model was updated in real time.

AUTOMATIC PICTURE ANALYSIS FOR CREEPING TEST OF THREADS WORK EXPERIENCE ARCHITECTURE DIPLOMA PROJECTS TEXTILE MEMBRANES UNIVERSITY PROJECTS PROGRAMMING CONFERENCES GRAPHIC DESIGN OTHER PROJECT MANAGEMENT MATERIAL TESTING PROGRAMMING PAGE 16 The goal of the program is to automatically calculate the elongation of membrane threads and draw the behavioral diagrams after an analysis over a period of 40 days. The program starts with a folder of creeping test pictures. 40 threads are hung in front of a panel, at first with no extra weights and then with a specific weight on each thread. The progress of each thread is observed over a period of 40 days, in which pictures are taken every 5 minutes. A total of approximately 11500 pictures are taken, which, with the original method, were individually loaded in Photoshop, inspected thread for thread and the length of each thread, measured in pixels, was listed in an excel file. All this was done manually, which meant an estimated time of 15 min for each picture. The program allows the automatic listing of all the 11500 pictures in an excel file, then the automatic loading of the pictures in Rhino, one by one. When a picture is loaded, each individual thread, out of the 40 in total, including the measuring start and end points, is identified with the help of the RHPicture Plug-in, that allows pixel analysis. The distance between the measuring start and end points for each thread is calculated and automatically written in an Excel file. This process is repeated automatically for each of the 11500 pictures. The duration is, depending on the processor, 10 seconds/ picture. Steps: 1. Prepare the Listing Excel sheet: it will contain the names and paths of the pictures to be analyzed. The List is created by writing a Makro for Excel, that allows the user to select a folder and then lists all the files in the respective folder. 2. After starting Rhino, Monkey for Rhino and loading the RHPicture plug-in, the Listing Excel Sheet is loaded as the source list for the automatic loading of pictures into Rhino. 3. The number of pictures to be analyzed in one run of the script can also be set. 4. Running the script determines the start of the picture analysis, and the iterations will stop when the total set number of pictures will have been analyzed.

The goal of this research is to investigate kinematical textile membrane strips configurations that serve as responsive second building skins. The movement of these adaptable material systems will be defined by a dynamic response to the environment. With use of the integration of sensors and actuators, as well as computation and material responsiveness enhancers, the end result of the research should be a self actuating system that interacts with its surroundings and that is characterized by its behavioural adaptivity. The user does not control the technology, but represents a change in the containing environment, and form is therefore not afflicted upon the material from the outside, but it represents, together with its behaviour over time, an emerging phenomenon arising through the programming of a reactive environment. This foreseeable scope will translate into a system that includes the inherent instability given by the multitude of parameters able to transform the morphology of the form, remaining open and indeterminate Physical models : The investigated geometries differ from the point of view of the actuation type, but for the sake of the extensive coverage of the search space, the differentiation will go on to a more detailed level. Digital representation of deformed geometries: Results acquired with the help of the physical models (scale 1:10) are used to guide the modeling of the digital models and to identity the parameters that influence the relaxation. Grasshopper: In order to simulate the GFK elements, their stiffness and their bending behaviour, a convention is made to represent them as trusses. The grasshopper build is fed with two curves, that is then transforms to polylines. Kangaroo: The Kangaroo components set transforms the lines (members of the truss) into springs, appoints them stiffness and damping values and uses the anchor points to fixate the general geometry. Forces are either defined as vectors, such as gravity or as attraction stress between two points on the different longitudinal elements..

The desired result was an open-able textile configuration to be used as a shading system or as space divider. The structural elements present themselves as shown on the left, a rotation axis along which rigid elements are fixed (rhombuses or triangles). These elements are so set that there are always two planes, each containing one of the two element categories. The planes are free to rotate one in reference to another along the rotation axis, as the geometry allows it. The corners of the rhombuses and triangles are fixed to the membrane layers. By rotating the structural elements, the textile is controlled, and so it is open to a smaller or bigger degree, or completely closed.
