Publications Great Design Using Non-Traditional Materials (North Light Books), Ultimo Inc. The Best Seasonal Promotions (North Light Books), Ultimo Inc. Research MFA Thesis Project Memory Lenses: Three Social Sites Memory Lenses: Three Social Sites consists of two public design installations and one proposed public design installation. Each installation was created for three different neighborhoods near downtown Los Angeles. The neighborhoods are: Chavez Ravine, Lincoln Heights, and Little Tokyo. Each of the three pieces utilizes a discrete medium within the parameters of graphic design to present imagery and individual memories of residents from each locale. On a practical level, this project explores a variety of tools available to the graphic designer working within a public art context. On an aesthetic/ conceptual level, the completed pieces are meant to evoke a sense of a shared past within each of the three unique neighborhoods, and to explore how individual memories made public can lead to a sense of shared/communal experience, serving as both catalysts and containers for collective memory.
