As per our Statute elections for President and Committee posts shall be held at the end of this meeting. The Procedure is as follows: 1. 15:30 hrs: Reception and registration 2. 16:00 hrs: a. Reading of the Minutes of the previous AGM. b. President s address. c. Vice President s report d. Guest speakers 3. 18:00 hrs: e. Administrative report by the Secretary. f. Financial report by the Treasurer. 5. 19:00 hrs: g. Resignation of serving President h. Dissolution of serving Committee. i. CEO takes over Chairmanship of meeting j. Elections. 6. 19:30 hrs: Conclusion Lists of eligible members for President and Committee elections are attached to the end of this newsletter. Eligibility is subject to a minimum of five years of uninterrupted membership in the case of President and three years in the case of Committee posts. Nomination of Candidates for Committee posts must bear the names and signatures of a proposer and a seconder who must be members paid up for the current year and the signature of the candidate confirming his acceptance of the nomination. Such nominations must be sent to the CEO on forms issued by the Committee, at least ten (10) days before the date of the Annual General Meeting. A form is attached at the end of this newsletter. The procedure for the nomination of candidates for the post of President is as described in the preceding paragraph except that five nominations are required.
No. 237 3 rd May 2013 2/12 As announced on the Association website and posted on the bulletin board at the Club House, in accordance with our Statute, an Extraordinary General Meeting was held on Friday 26 April to appoint two auditors to review the Association s accounts. Members Stephen Barbara (628) and Christopher Grima (1220) have been appointed auditors. We thank these two members for volunteering. OFFICE HOURS Our Tigne Point premises are open as follows: Mondays: 2:00pm to 7:00pm Wednesdays and Fridays: 2:00pm to 10:00pm Street parking is usually possible in the area. However you may find it more convenient to drive into the Tigne car park and then collect an exit ticket from our office on your way out to avail yourself of the special AMACS discounted parking rates. CLOCK TOWER BLOCK DEVELOPMENT Work has begun on the development of the indoor range at our premises in the Clock Tower Block. The dividing wall between the two adjoining halls has been removed while a partition and a spectators platform have been erected. The range is being constructed in full conformity with the highest international standards. SHOOTING INSURANCE New members who have paid for insurance when joining AMACS are now covered to shoot at licensed ranges before they obtain their license as per regulations in LN 75 of 2013. Before going to the range members are to contact the AMACS office to obtain a special declaration showing that they are covered. New policies issued after 26 April will automatically include this cover. Please look for special announcement regarding a presentation by England Insurance Agency further on in this newsletter.
No. 237 3 rd May 2013 3/12 CLUB NOTICES MALTA ARMS & MILITARIA SOCIETY COURSES FOR COLLECTOR LICENCE MAMS is organising courses for members who wish to apply for a Collector Licence A. The courses are run by Stephen Petroni who besides being the Association President is also Chairman of the Foundation for European Societies of Arms Collectors (FESAC). The first two courses were well attended. The next course will be held on Wednesday 22 May from 7:30pm onwards and the assessment with follow on Friday 24 May also from 7:30pm onwards. Bookings are to be made through the Association CEO Franco Piccinino. MALTA RIFLE & PISTOL SHOOTING CLUB IPSC shoots are regularly held at Victoria Shooting Range. The first-ever IPSC rifle competition was held at the Gun Blast Shooting Range in Gozo on 21 April. No. 237 3 rd May 2013 4/12 MRPSC Shooting Course The next firearms safe handling course will be held on Saturday, 11 th May from 9am to 5pm. This is for members who wish to obtain a Target Shooter license A (revolver/pistol/rifle) and Target Shooter license B (tactical shotgun). The fee is 30.00. Those interested in attending the course should send an email to our administration office on info@amacs-malta.org or call on 2141 1600 during office hours. MALTA CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING CLUB A course for members that wish to obtain a Target Shooter license B Clay Pigeon will be held on Monday 20 May, 7pm to 9:30pm. Please contact the office to book. MALTA AIRGUN SHOOTING CLUB Members who need to attend a Basic Airgun Induction Course to obtain a Target Shooter licence B (airguns) should call 2141 1600 or send an email on info@amacs-malta.org to book. MALTA TACTICAL AIRSOFT CLUB One no longer requires a TSL-B (or a CL-A) to own airsoft firearms provided these are registered and kept at home. However in order to participate in airsoft activities the owner must be a member of an appropriate Club. AMACS/MTAC will continue to provide courses for airsoft to ensure proper knowledge of the law and safety. Regular activities are held by our Airsoft Club in the White Rocks Complex in Bahar ic-caghaq. MALTA CROSSBOW SHOOTING CLUB Members who wish to obtain a Crossbow target shooter licence A should contact our office so that we will book you for the next course. The advert may be in the format of a self running power point presentation, a video or a combination of both and may be up to five minutes long. It will be shown at least twice during each Club evening for a period of four weeks against a fee of 50.00 for members and 100.00 for nonmembers. Interested parties are to contact the CEO at the earliest opportunity. Dealers are encouraged to leave catalogues for the attention of the members. COMMERCIAL ADVERTS BY SMS We have the facility of sending an SMS to all our members. AMACS members who wish to send an advert to our members may do so for a fee of 90.00. Fee for non-amacs members is 150.00. Your message will reach over 800 members. Send an email to info@amacs-malta.org for more information. COMMERCIAL ADVERTISEMENTS Advertising Rates - Members pay 25.00 for 1/3 of a page, 30.00 for 1/2 of a page, 45.00 for a full page. Non-members fee is double the member s rate.
