(Midge) Janner, (96), 2123 North Purdum Street, Kokomo, In. died at her home on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 8:30 pm, just 15 days before her birthday. Marjorie was only 6 weeks old when her parents, Benjamin Adam and Audrey Monica (Woodruff) Schick moved into the home place on North Purdum. She was born June 21, 1918 on Kokomo Street in Kokomo, In. She attended Riley, St. Patrick, and Roosevelt schools during her pre high school years. She graduated in the class of 1936 from Kokomo High School playing the violin. Washington St. Kokomo, Indiana 46901 She started her nurses training at St. John s Hospital in Anderson, In. and finished it at St. Vincent s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. taking specialized training in obstetrics. She nursed at St. Mary s in Kansas City, Mo., St. Margaret s in Kansas City, Ks., Florence Crittendon Home in Kansas City, Mo. And Northeast Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. She also worked at the Osteopathic Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. where she helped train student doctors in nursery care of infants. After moving back to Indiana, she worked at St. Joseph Hospital, Tipton Memorial Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. She Specialed many patients including her mother who was a patient at Howard Community Hospital in Kokomo. Marjorie married William J. Janner Sr. on December 2, 1939. They had 2 sons, William J. Janner Jr. and Wayne C. Janner. Mr. Janner Sr. died in 1971. She married Louis E. Bill Allen in 1948 and they divorced in 1955. In1962 she married Eugene LeRoy Carr and they divorced in 1979. In 1971 she founded the Kokomo Herald Newspaper starting as the Northeast Herald. In 1993 she transferred ownership to her son Wayne to ensure it s continued publication. In 1979, Marjorie was the 1st woman candidate to ever run for the office of mayor of Kokomo. She was vitally interested in anything concerning the residents of Kokomo. She was a member of St. Patrick Church, St. Patrick Rosary Sodality, Kokomo s Women of the Moose, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Post 1152 Auxiliary and the Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Peru. She loved traveling and meeting people. She lived in Fort Meyers Florida for a while and loved being there. 1 / 7

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, June 15, 2015, at St. Patrick s Catholic Church, 1229 North Washington Street, Kokomo, with the Rev. Fr. Mike McKinney the celebrant. Interment will be held at a later date in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery.
