ImmerQi understands how important it is to provide accommodation to participants in a comfortable, enjoyable and safe environment. We also understand that it can be a daunting experience for participants to leave home to live and work in a completely different country. Therefore, by putting all the necessary information in this guide, we hope to help and assist participants in every step of the way to prepare for life in their new environment and provide participants with the best possible standards. We will make sure that the accommodations in both cities are fully furnished and safe. We are committed to make our participant s transition as easy as possible! It is just bigger, busier and maybe a bit louder But don t worry, that is why we are here to help and support you throughout your internship in China. What is it like to live in Beijing? Beijing is the capital city of China! Is the second largest city by urban population after Shanghai and is the center of nation s culture, politics and education. People in Beijing use Mandarin, which is the official language in China and it is considered as the capital of bicycles in the world! You will get to enjoy lots of traditional Beijing dishes from Peking duck to Hot and Sour Soup! What is it like to live in Shanghai? As you may know, Shanghai is China s finance center! It is actually the largest city in the world by its proper city population of more than 24 million people. Locations and Living Conditions Beijing Chaoyang District: Near Happy Valley and Sihui Both locations are 20 to 25 mins away from Beijing CBD area by subway Residential areas less crowded than central areas ImmerQi s brand new Beijing apartments are located in the east and the southeast part of Beijing. Perfect location to immerse yourself in China by enjoying your life in Beijing alleyways where you can easily find small to big shops, bars, restaurants and malls just around the corner! Our Beijing accommodation is definitely the right place to stay if you are looking for an authentic Beijing experience. Shanghai Jing an District: Sanhe Garden Shopping malls / City Centre area Huangpu District: Weihaiyuan Traditional Urban Core area Changning District: Residential District ImmerQi s Shanghai apartments are located throughout the city, in central areas. Shanghai is very internationalized so it was easier for our past participants to find Western products and food. Each of the accommodation provides similar environment and is close to small shops, malls, restaurants, and gyms which will definitely help you to immerse yourself in Shanghai!
Beijing: Sihui & Happy Valley Area ImmerQi Accommodation Sample Photos From both areas, it takes less than 30 minutes to get to the Central Business District of Beijing. You can find a mix of Chinese and western restaurants, local shops and big malls like Wanda Mall near your accommodation. Every accommodation has a reception area with security. Your accommodation property manager will be in charge of repairing and utility bills. ImmerQi will be in direct contact with your property manager so that whenever an issue occurs, we can try to solve it for you as soon as possible. Each accommodation has common area where you can hang out, play games, watch TV, and relax and chat with other people. Subway stations are just 10 to 15-minute walk away, and you can easily get around the area by using bike sharing apps like Mobike and Ofo! There is an amusement park not far from your accommodation in Happy Valley! ** Rooms vary depending on your duration.
ImmerQi Accommodation Sample Photos Shanghai: Jing an, Huangpu, and Changning Districts ImmerQi has several rooms available for you across the city, which are in Jing an, Huangpu and Changning districts. As Shanghai is well-known for having the biggest expat community in China, it won t be a problem for you to find western restaurants, bars and shops! Each accommodation has common area where you can hang out, play games, and chat with other people. Your accommodation property manager will be in charge of repairing and housekeeping so ImmerQi will be in direct contact with your property manager. FAQs WHEN CAN I FIND OUT ABOUT MY ACCOMMODATION? Once you are accepted onto the internship program, you will be introduced to your intern manager in prior to your departure. You will get to receive pre-arrival information and information about your accommodation. You can talk to your intern manager about your preferences during this period. WHAT KIND OF ACCOMMODATION WILL I HAVE? You will stay in a shared apartment with your own private bedroom. You will be housed with other program participants (subject to availability) otherwise young professionals/students who are not in the same program. WHAT ARE ACCOMMODATION STANDARDS LIKE IN CHINA? Housing is very simple in China. Most people in cities live in small high-rise apartments. The apartments vary in condition but ImmerQi will try our best to make our accommodations meet the western standard. As China is still learning to adapt to western style living, you may face some difficulties but that is why we are here for you to help! Air conditioning, water and other facilities can also vary. WHERE IS MY ACCOMMODATION LOCATED? Shared apartments are situated close to the city and accessible by public transportation. We will organize your accommodation after the confirmation of your internship to ensure that the accommodation is within a commutable distance to your host company (maximum an hour by subway). WILL I BE LIVING WITH SOMEONE ELSE? Yes. You will have your own private bedroom but will be sharing the common area, such as the living room, bathroom and the kitchen. You will be most likely to live with another program participant or with other young professionals/students who are not in the program.
WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMETHING GETS BROKEN? DO I NEED TO PAY FOR IT? When home appliances or furniture are broken, you can let your intern manager know about it and we will try to have it fixed within 3 working days. In most cases, you will not be liable for the costs when things are broken not due to your deliberate action, however, please read your Terms and Conditions of Participation and Code of Conduct for further details. CAN I CHOOSE TO LIVE WITH A FEMALE / MALE? Yes. When discussing your preferences with your intern manager, please do let us know about this in advance. WILL DAILY NECESSITIES BE PROVIDED BY IMMERQI? No. We will not be providing you with towels, soaps, toilet papers, etc. However, we are more than happy to let you know where you can get the items you need! WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED BY IMMERQI? Bedroom cleaning service before your arrival, clean bed linen, and basic kitchen tools. CAN I KEEP A PET? No. You are not allowed to keep your own pet inside the apartment. DO I NEED TO PAY FOR MY OWN ELECTRICITY, GAS AND WATER? ImmerQi will pay for your expenses monthly. However, please do keep in mind that we provide you with limited, but reasonable amount of units every month. If you exceed the limit, you will be responsible for extra bills.
