APRESENTAÇÃO Dear colleague, The National Energy and Geology Laboratory together with Faculty of Science and Technology of Nova University cordially invite you to the 1 st Conference Net Zero-Energy Buildings - Policies & Strategies, Underlying Concepts &Methodologies, Applications & Solutions for Net Zero Energy Buildings and Smart Cities Initiative. The objective of the Conference is to present and discuss recent advancements as well as to identify the challenges of the present and the future in this field. The conference also aims to build a bridge between national practices and international experience being organized as a joint event with the SHC Task 40 / ECBCS Annex 52 - Towards Net Zero Energy Solar Buildings. Apart from the plenary sessions which will be handled by national and international experts, the conference program will be complemented by sessions that will present the work of students enrolled in graduate degree programs, master's degree and doctoral students, which contribute to the achievement of Energy Efficient and Innovative Systems in Buildings. With best regards, Helder Gonçalves, LNEG Daniel Aelenei, FCT/UNL Laura Aelenei, LNEG (Coordenador) Target group The conference is addressed to the wide target group of professionals (architects, engineers, planners, building energy efficiency and renewable technologies designers), clients (building owners and building users) and policy makers. Students, doctoral candidates and young researchers are also encouraged to participate. The conference will provide: A conference for research and discussion on -energy performance buildings; An overview of the process of implementation of the EPBD recast policies at national level; An overview of international definitions framework, tools and successful demonstration projects; An overview of the national demonstration and research projects; A platform for building industry and renewable energy leaders to share their insights; An opportunity for policymakers to examine the non-technical barriers and support effective policy development for a wide scale development of NZEBs.
