Certified Federal Surveyor Program Increase the pool of qualified surveyors working on or near federal interest lands with a focus on Indian lands. Ensure such surveys comply with regulations and policies decreasing the chance and expense of rework. Goals of Land Buy-Back To reduce the number of fractional interests in trust or restricted lands, using reasonable efforts to prioritize the consolidation of the most highly fractionated tracts of land as required by the Settlement. To maximize the number of tracts in which the tribe gains a controlling ownership interest to unlock land for beneficial use or conservation by tribal nations, taking tribal priorities into account. Mapping Process Requirement.to meet the specialized needs of federal government appraisers to accurately position assets and resources relative to parcel boundaries to determine parcel valuations..using data or information contained in federal databases or other systems and which are derived from official records - an authoritative sources. Statistics/Information Mapping Team (led by the BLM) includes Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Special Trustee (OST), Office of Valuation Services, and Office of the Secretary (over all Buy-Back lead) Over 60 reservations serviced (mapped and remapped); target is 150 98% of available funding has been directed to commercial service providers (contracts) Program in year three; expected to end in 2022 Over 4000 townships containing over 500,000 parcels serviced to date; more to come Generally, affecting all the USA except the East Coast and Alaska Has provided BIA with the methodology to service remaining reservations 12
General Land Office Records Federal Land Patents offer researchers a source of information on the initial transfer of land titles from the Federal government to individuals. Survey plats and Field Nots are part of the official record of a cadastral survey. A cadastral survey is a survey which creates, marks, defines, retraces or re-establishes the boundaries and subdivisions of Federal Lands of the United States. Land Status Records are used by BLM Western State Offices to document the ongoing status or state of a township's Federal and private land regarding title, lease, rights, and usage The Control Document Index includes BLM documents that affect or have affected the control, limitation, or restriction of public land and resources.
