Neighborhood Livability Task Force The Charge: Identify neighborhood livability concerns and opportunities that will emerge as OSU-Cascades expands to a 4- year West Bend campus. CEAC SUSTAINABILITY TASK FORCE Original charge: Research innovative and efficient solutions for energy systems, sewer and water, building design, landscape, and the human element of design. Recommend sustainability goals. Identify examples that model the sustainability vision. Revised charge: Research innovative and efficient solutions for campus/community connectivity, energy systems (including renewables), sewer and water, building design, and the landscape. Identify examples that model the sustainability definition established by the group. Synthesize findings into a set of best practice recommendations for the planning process. Integrate recommendations with other task forces.

PROGRESS TO DATE Group has initially focused on campus models focusing on Energy systems Innovative and compelling design goals that attract outside investment Private/public partnerships Principles guiding our work The campus should honor and enhance human and natural communities in Central Oregon. It should be woven into the fabric of our communities. Campus should demonstrate innovation and leadership that inspires/invites outside investment. Campus should emphasize and encourage new learning models, both for students and the community. Campus design and operations must be fiscally responsible.

CEAC TRANSPORTATION TASK FORCE Original charge: Research campus specific transportation impacts on local communities. Evaluate parking and commute options, alternative modes of transportation, and other innovative concepts currently operational. Recommend realistic strategies specific to minimize commuter impact on local community. Revised charge:generate design and program principles with the ultimate objective of a pedestrian/non-motor vehicle focused campus which minimizes transportation impacts on the community.

PROGRESS TO DATE Group has initially focused on parking systems Summary preliminary findings The university should complete an integrated Transportation Demand Management plan which includes infrastructure, implementation and enforcement Reducing VMT and parking issues begins with providing adequate housing and amenities/services on campus Campus design should be pedestrian driven Effective TDM will require optimization of the transit system Campus parking and transportation planning should be coordinated in a regional context
