ABOUT SON PARC Over looking Menorca s only golf course, the Son Parc complex includes tennis, shops, and restaurants and has one of the best beaches on the island close by. The local beach, Arenal de Son Saura, is ideal for the family. Club Son Parc incorporates a golf course, driving range, putting green, tennis courts, golf shop, bar and restaurant. Son Parc itself offers a selection of bars and restaurants nearby, together with local shops and two supermarkets which cater for your everyday needs. (Note green fees are payable for the 18-hole golf course, and it is advisable to book tee times in peak season)
There are many beaches and coves on the island, more than Majorca and Ibiza put together! Some, like Son Bou on the south coast, are big, with all the trappings of beach activities, shops, bars, water slides etc Some, like the beach at Na Macaret, 10 minutes drive away, are small and friendly. The sea around Menorca is clear and considered to be one of the most unpolluted in the Mediterranean. The beach at Arenal boasts the EEC Blue Flag award. Menorca s capital Mahon, and the ancient capital of Ciudadela, are easily reached by car and well worth exploring. If you are looking for riotous night life, then Menorca is not the best location. It is an ideal venue for family holidays. Restaurants are plentiful and children welcomed in them until late. Discos can be found 20 minutes away in Mahon or in the hotels at Arenal. The best and most spectacular disco is The Caves set into the cliffs at Cala n Porter, on the south coast. Menorca is a relatively inexpensive holiday destination by English standards. Drink is still cheap in both the supermarkets and bars/restaurants. Eating out is good value for money. Outside the towns the landscape provides wonderful contrasts, rugged and dramatic scenery gives way to sleepy whitewashed farmhouses drowsing amongst the lemon groves, and you are never far from the deep blue waters of the Mediterranean. It s much like Devon and Cornwall, but with sunshine! BOOKING... The procedure is as follows: 1. Check available dates. (+44 (0)1959 562553) Sue@thomos.me.uk 2. AND FINALLY The weather! The months of wall-to-wall sunshine are July and August, although May June and September are nearly always great as well. Swimming in the sea starts in May and can go through to late October. Being a small island, the Weather can be a little changeable. If you're going for a fortnight you'd be unlucky to get more than a couple of 'iffy' days, when 'doing the sights' becomes the name of the game, and why it's useful to have a car. People sometimes ask about the weather in winter - Well, it s a little unpredictable, but usually bright like an English spring. The worst month is probably February, and the sunshine is really April through to the end of October. For general information about the complex use google and search for Green Parc Village
