Chapter Activities: MATHCOUNTS CHAIRMAN 1995 to 1997, Awards: HORNFECK AWARD BOARD OF DIRECTORS: 2000-2001, 2002-2003, Education: BS University of Pittsburgh Achievements: Worked as a Construction Manager for numerous projects in the Pittsburgh Area including two historical bridges. Over 16 years of experience in civil/structural engineering in public and private sectors. Involved in engineering and design of steel and concrete structures for industrial and commercial facilities. Participated in inspections, infrastructure and feasibility studies. Worked as Junior Engineer, Project Engineer, Structural Engineer, and handled projects as Project Manager. Presently working as Senior Engineer at CV ENGINEERING. Some of the projects/clients include are Heartland Steel, Nucor Corporation, Housing Authority of city of Pittsburgh, and was a leading member of the Team for the Infrastructure Study of Pecem Industrial and Urban Complex for the State of Ceara, Brazil. Education credentials include Masters in Structural Engineering and Masters in Business Administration. For a Director Position: Brian K. Silowash, P.E. Brian graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1981. He began his career at USSteel s Clairton Works as a Maintenance Foreman. From there, he moved to Georgia to work for Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Grenzebach Corporation, and Dean Oliver & Associates. In 1989 he became registered as a Professional Engineer in Georgia. He moved to Texas to work for Lockwood Greene, and returned to Pittsburgh to work for Eichleay Engineers in 1996. In 2002, he started Innovative Design Engineering of America, LLC, a small engineering consulting firm serving the industrial sector. For a Director Position:.Maris G. Mangulis, P.E. Maris is a 1987 graduate of Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y. Maris has more than 17 years of diversified experience in civil engineering, beginning his career at Greenhorne and O Mara, Inc. in Greenbelt, MD, and currently working in the Aviation Services division of Michael Baker Jr. Inc. in Moon Township, PA. He has significant technical and administrative expertise in the area of airport project management. His responsibilities include project management and technical support for a general services contract at Pittsburgh International and Allegheny County Airports, as well as capital design projects. Mr. Mangulis construction experience includes resident inspection duties for various parking apron, taxiway, runway and deicing facilities. His work for airport projects has involved planning, design, resident inspection, deicing studies and environmental / regulatory considerations. Maris currently serves as a supervisory committee member for the Michael Baker Jr. Federal Credit Union.
