Evening and dinner plans are independent. (B, L) TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2018 Tivoli s Villa d Este & Renaissance Rome Just outside Rome lies the historic town of Tivoli, a favorite location for country estates since the days of the Emperor Hadrian. Step back into the Renaissance at the magnificent Villa d Este, one of the most complete expressions of Roman elegance in the 1500s. Explore the colorfully decorated interiors, extravagant gardens, and cool fountains. Savor a memorable luncheon feast at an intimate restaurant in the quiet countryside outside Tivoli. Upon your return to Rome, visit the Villa Farnesina, the Renaissance-style home belonging to papal banker Agostino Chigi. Delight in the exquisite interiors including frescoes by Raphael and an awe-inspiring fauxperspective room rendered by Baldassare Peruzzi. Enjoy the evening and dinner at leisure. (B, L) WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2018 Baroque Rome Begin the day with a special before-hours visit to the Sistine Chapel followed by a guided tour through the Vatican Museums.
